The original app always felt excessively cluttered and changed too much for the sake of changing. Moving here feels way better than supporting whatever the official reddit app decides to break today
they learned nothing from why they got so popular in the first place (cough digg v4 cough) and it shows.
Capitalists really just can't help themselves, can they? The moment that rate of profit starts to fall, the beast begins to eat itself.
Hoping and praying for r*ddit's downfall 🙇♀️
Honestly - what happens to all the information on Reddit if this actually happens? DPReview just recently announced they were shutting down (thanks, Amazon) and the first question was - what happens to all the valuable information and knowledge in the forums? There was a serious wave of panic in the photography community at the potential loss of all that information, and it was too much for archive.org to reliably get. I wonder what the contingency plan for Reddit would be at this point.
All the more reason in my eyes to support the fediverse at this point - archiving a single instance isn’t going to be as terrifying as a decade-plus monolith forum.
Damn Jerboa android lemmy client got messed up. Didn't realized I've triple posted this. Sorry for the inconvenience!
Yeah Jerboa still has some stability issues. For now, I'll still hop between it and the regular web client, which honestly it's quite alright for mobile.
The official app pushed me away when I was forced to see the 'hegetsus' crap. I've been waiting for Reddit to pull a Digg for a while and looks like the API nonsense is going to be it for me, anyway.
This is quite accurate. I've stood up my own lemmy instance... but hitting some pretty basic issues in the process. Not sure its ready for prime time.
Yes this is me 😆
**** The app!
