Charles did not deserve those boos and he sounded agitated. So unfair.

[-] EyesEyesBaby@lemmy.world 25 points 1 year ago

I'm not the biggest Leclerc fan, but damn he deserved that podium today, and there was nothing he could do to prevent the collision. Like Hamilton said, he did what Hamilton did at Qatar.

[-] June@lemm.ee 16 points 1 year ago

Yea that was shitty from the fans.

[-] Luckyfriend222@lemmy.world 7 points 1 year ago

Agreed. Especially since Checo already said in his interviews that he was responsible. Sad when fans start doing this in a sport such as F1.

Lando- I am speed.

Great drive today. His win is coming.

[-] joat_mon@lemmy.world 10 points 1 year ago

There is the possibility that he could overtake both Alonso and Sainz for 4th in the drivers championship before the end of the season as well!

[-] FrostyTrichs@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

If he can get his qualifying form in order he's probably on the podium every remaining race. At that point he's all but locked up 4th.

I'm glad to see his faith in the team rewarded with a car that appears to be on a rocket trajectory right now. With some luck and a ton of work in Woking over the winter there's a legitimate chance of a Max/Daniel vs Lando/Oscar vs Lewis/George vs Charles/Carlos for poles, wins, and a couple of championships before the new regulations hit.

It's a great time to be a fan.

Also great result by Danny! If Yuki had a bit more patience this weekend would have been perfect for AT.

[-] kerrypacker@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

Yuki is clearly fast but comes off as a spoilt brat regularly.

First of all. I love that the results are not plastered all over this post/thumbnail. So no spoilers for those who haven’t seen the race yet. Kudos to the OP.

Funny you say that, I complained a few races ago about spoilers in this sub and everybody grabbed their pitchforks.

PS: I Absolutely agree with you.

Cutting away from the Ricciardo Russel battle to see Max finish the last lap was so frustrating, especially when you saw the gap on the timing tower get down to two hundredths. I get that you need to see the finish happen but we don't need to see Max for half a lap, just the last corner will do.

Merc seems to be coming back into form. Very excited to see what they do next year. Can’t believe Lewis managed on those scrub mediums.

Ferrari actually did quite well, relatively speaking. Expected them to fall off way harder.

Danny was great, maybe brilliant. He put himself on the second row but we all knew the AT doesn’t have the race pace to keep that. I won’t be surprised to see him overtake Yuki in the points.

It’s hard being a Checo fan, and he may have lost me today. He keeps making these stupid pass attempts and I just don’t understand it. He compromised Charles’ race too. Just, unreal and disappointing af.

Haas was surprising, but faded away as is tradition. They just did it a bit slower save for Kmag’s crash.

[-] soEZ@lemmy.world 7 points 1 year ago

They did well in Mexico last year too...i would hold calling them improving the car until next 2 races...untill next upgrade tm. 😭

[-] June@lemm.ee 3 points 1 year ago

I’m basing on the last two races. Lewis said he feels like he can lean on the car for the first time since the new rules, and the way he’s outperformed George these last two weeks has me thinking they’re figuring it out.

But you are still correct, it could be a flash in the pan.

[-] soEZ@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Fingers crossed...the question still is, will this allow them to take a step forward and fight rb next year, which is quiet a large gap, or will this just make them slightly faster #2...hopefully RB makes a mistake and does not improve next year letting other catch up, but unlikely.... Also hope either Perez improves or rb#2 gets a better driver to close gap to Max so there is at least some tension there...

I won’t be surprised to see him overtake Yuki in the points.

There was a point in the race when it seemed that yuki would finish either just behind ricciardo or even ahead of him considering he was on new hards. Yes Ricciardo has his self confidence back but I am not ready to buy that Ricciardo is faster than tsunoda all of a sudden. Yes Ricciardo is a more complete driver than tsunoda because he has the maturity and experience which tsunoda showed that he sorely lacks. However on pure pace over a grand prix, tsunoda still seems to have the edge

Danny has run like 5 races and is 2 points behind Yuki. Yea Yuki has had a lot of bad luck this year, and it’s not necessarily an indictment on his ability, it’s just that Yuki hasn’t been able to turn his flashes of brilliance into consistent results. He’s a talented driver, but there’s something he’s still missing that’s holding him back and I think Danny is going to beat him in points because of it.

The race is over and I still can't get over what Perez pulled. Calling it completely unnecessary feels like an understatement. The move was so stupid it's bordering on self-sabotage.

[-] lazycouchpotato@lemmy.world 9 points 1 year ago

Haha love that hat.

[-] WaterSword@discuss.tchncs.de 7 points 1 year ago

Wow champagne cam is a new one! Love seeing innovation in the broadcasting of the sport haha!

[-] lazycouchpotato@lemmy.world 15 points 1 year ago

They've had the cam before, but I believe it's the first time we've seen live footage from it.

[-] hal_5700X@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

Logan can't win. twitter/archive

Ricciardo finish in the top 10. Who saw that one coming.

Will Perez still be in F1 next year?

[-] troed@fedia.io 2 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Will Perez have a seat next race? This is Red Bull - if they decide the seat is Ricciardo's for next year they might as well switch now.

[-] BearJCC@lemmy.sdf.org 2 points 1 year ago

They have secured the constructors and the drivers championships. They want Perez at P2, no reason to pull him this season
