Trip also gets pregnant in Star Trek: Enterprise from, like, shaking hands with an alien or something.

[-] aeronmelon@lemmy.world 15 points 3 days ago

Technically, that was impregnation.

Dude, keep this filth away from here!

NSFW:

Enterprise spoiler, kinda

This is what actually happened in the episode. Trip was under the impression that this was a game or something, where players placed their hands into a dish of pebbles that did... something. What he did not understand was that this was actually a ritual that involved transmitting genetic material from one individual to another.

I hate this episode. Trip was literally raped and it’s played off for laughs for the whole thing.

[-] SatyrSack@quokk.au 5 points 3 days ago

Stargate wasn't much better. Jack fights off a rape attempt and immediately, Dr. Fraiser explains to him how he should feel honored to have been chosen as a victim.

[-] atomicbocks@sh.itjust.works 2 points 3 days ago

Yeah, and what happened to Jackson’s wife, that we can assume happens to pretty much every host.

[-] SatyrSack@quokk.au 9 points 3 days ago

At least what happened to Shau're was treated as a traumatic situation, by everybody except the villains.

[-] _NetNomad@fedia.io 4 points 3 days ago

between that and Cogenitor, Enterprise really had some... issues

[-] Apytele@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 days ago

Oh yeah and she does NOT make it clear to him that what they're doing is sex (although I suppose you could interpret that as a cultural miscommunication). She's just like oh I didn't think you could get pregnant though I didn't think it was a big deal oopsie!

That show was just soooo horny all the way through.

[-] atomicbocks@sh.itjust.works 7 points 3 days ago

While we are on the subject, Kira also gets pregnant without doing anything with Chief O'Brien.

[-] Zorque@lemmy.world 4 points 3 days ago

She did it with Keiko instead.

[-] Ydna@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

Damn I forgot how much I love fuzzy head Tealc

Not that it matters but the Immaculate Conception is not the Virgin Birth of Jesus, it's Mary's conception since she was born without Original Sin.

Thanks, I am not hip to the lore. I just remember looking up the meaning behind the song "Immaculate Misconception" by Motionless in White years ago, and must have misremembered the details when making this post.

I'll just say the title is referring to Vala, then.

These 3 need to be starring cast in another SciFi serial together, and let's bring on Amanda Tapping to direct.

Who's on that? Brad, do you have the bandwidth you take this project on?

[-] Reygle@lemmy.world 6 points 3 days ago

Typed a comment about Claudia Black but then noticed rule 3, so I will instead politely upvote and move on.

[-] ajmaxwell@lemmy.world 11 points 3 days ago

And yet you still managed to make a comment about Claudia Black

[-] Reygle@lemmy.world 8 points 3 days ago

Darn it I did

[-] acockworkorange@mander.xyz 7 points 3 days ago

It is quite hard to see her and not fawn.

[-] tacosanonymous@mander.xyz 6 points 3 days ago

She’s the best.

[-] cosmos8188@leminal.space 2 points 3 days ago

Darth impregnator.

[-] AngryCommieKender@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago

So does this imply that the Guald don't know about artificial insemination? Does that further imply they are mainly vegetarian?

[-] iamthetot@piefed.ca 4 points 3 days ago

Can really only infer about Jaffa from this scene. However, since Goa'uld know everything their host knows, and have genetic memory, I'm certain they are aware of it

[-] SatyrSack@quokk.au 4 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

And Jaffa certainly were not strict vegetarians. Teal'c's favorite food was turkey.

EDIT: As for Goa'uld, the only time I can remember seeing any eat at all was Nerus, who was gorging on chickens/turkeys.

[-] aaaa@piefed.world 1 points 3 days ago

There was the entire summit in which they ate Goa'uld

[-] SatyrSack@quokk.au 1 points 3 days ago

Ah, right. S5E16 "Last Stand"

Definitely not vegetarians, and that even arguably makes them cannibals. The only way you could argue that is not cannibalism is because it's technically the human host who is eating that Goa'uld here. It's not a Goa'uld itself eating the Goa'uld.

[-] trolololol@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago

But who's in charge of the mouth when they eat goauld? Just check the eyes, if they glow, they're cannibal
