Drama again? 😐
Don’t worry his Sycophants will make the excuses.
Of course he did. This is total PTB!
Which sucks because I loved what Rimu was doing in the beginning by creating piefed. Then he banned me for no reason. Ok, dick move, but ok. I still supported him and his vision. More fediverse stuff, the better I thought.
But then there was the whole karma rating and all that other stuff. Then seeing how he would reply to people who brought stuff up.
Now this. Fuck that guy. He's proving himself to be an ass. Which sucks, because I really wanted to like him.
Total PTB!
Yeah, this is PTB.
You can't just shut down an otherwise on topic comment because you don't like it. I mean, you can, but if it's in this situation you're using your position to block dissent. That's literally what power tripping is.
I don't see how people can still use piefed with someone like this in charge. A new red flag pops up every month. It's hard to see them among all the other red flags.
Totally agree with you. Which sucks because I really wanted to like the project. But the more stuff that comes out about it and the creator just makes me shake my head.
Same here. I even tried it, finding the whole project tainted with Rimus outspoken ideals. While, on lemmy, all the bullshit is in the open and corralled into the devs pet instance.
good news, nobody who like Piefed has to use it. we've gotten PyLova to the point it's running Quokk.au and Anarchist.Nexus, and we've not only removed the censorship and the bias, but we've also improved the UI, made some new themes, and most important of all patched some security vulnerabilities.
at this point it's better than Piefed in every way.
I saw the thread without context trying to defend their actions and I just laughed.
"Boy golly, I'm just so new to this FOSS thing!"
Like, I still don't really know the details, but this pattern has gotten old.
Ye Power Trippin' Bastards
This is a community in the spirit of "Am I The Asshole" where people can post their own bans from lemmy or reddit or whatever and get some feedback from others whether the ban was justified or not.
Sometimes one just wants to be able to challenge the arguments some mod made and this could be the place for that.
Posting Guidelines
All posts should follow this basic structure:
- Which mods/admins were being Power Tripping Bastards?
- What sanction did they impose (e.g. community ban, instance ban, removed comment)?
- Provide a screenshot of the relevant modlog entry (don’t de-obfuscate mod names).
- Provide a screenshot and explanation of the cause of the sanction (e.g. the post/comment that was removed, or got you banned).
- Explain why you think its unfair and how you would like the situation to be remedied.
Rules
- Post only about bans or other sanctions that you have received from a mod or admin.
- Don’t use private communications to prove your point. We can’t verify them and they can be faked easily.
- Don’t deobfuscate mod names from the modlog with admin powers.
- Don’t harass mods or brigade comms. Don’t word your posts in a way that would trigger such harassment and brigades.
- Do not downvote posts if you think they deserved it. Use the comment votes (see below) for that.
- You can post about power trippin’ in any social media, not just lemmy. Feel free to post about reddit or a forum etc.
- If you are the accused PTB, while you are welcome to respond, please do so within the relevant post.
- Keep the comments in YPTB posts about the moderation action itself, not about the general topic in which the moderation took place.
Expect to receive feedback about your posts, they might even be negative.
Make sure you follow this instance's code of conduct. In other words we won't allow bellyaching about being sanctioned for hate speech or bigotry.
YPTB matrix channel: For real-time discussions about bastards or to appeal mod actions in YPTB itself.
