In case anyone else was wondering, the government said it would not be proportional to actually do anything about the things that were brought in for drilling without proper authorization. I'm not super familiar with greenlands laws, but if the government would seize drugs or weapons or anything else they did not authorize upon entering the country, I'm not sure why these people get a pass.
I get that they are afraid of Trump, but it really just contributes to his idea that bullying works. We're already at war in the Middle East. I don't think Trump bombs or invades Greenland if they seize this equipment that was illegally brought in. They have laws and have a right to enforce them. What happened to countries having a right to defend themselves?
The purpose of this line pushing is similar to Nazi Germany regarding Danzig (against Poland). The US is attempting to push the line to generate a response so they can justify an invasion. The last thing they want is a concession, because that will extinguish the possibility of justification. You can watch here as no negotiation will occur, and if DK/GL give a concession, the US will move to the next unreasonable demand to again try to force a justification.

Seizing items that are in your country illegally is not a justification for war. The items do not belong to the US government. They belong to a private company. I understand that the US is in a frightening place right now, but I think they're using the threat to get more than they actually could. Just giving a bully your lunch money because you don't wanna be beat up for it only makes sense if they're definitely gonna beat you up otherwise. Maybe I am more naïve than I think, but I do not see a world in which the US goes boots on the ground over there.
I really think the only language that Trump and this entire administration understand is force and violence. If Denmark/Greenland is unwilling to enforce their own laws now, then I really don't see anything changing. According to the article this is in a protected area. If they actually start using the machinery and drilling will that be enough? Will something be done then? Obviously, I don't live there so it might be easier for me to say than somebody who potentially would be more negatively affected if something did happen, but I truly could not imagine us doing anything to actually enforce things over there militaristically.
The US is acting exactly as Russia does. They are putting a pretend line in and saying it is a private company, private individuals undertaking these actions.
First it will be an "innocent" oil company that is just exploring. Then it will be the oil company needs private security. Then suddenly we have a PMC set up in Jameson Land, which just happens to be owned by Jared Kushner.
You can intercept it now, sure, but they will try again in a more underhanded way in a more isolated area. This is going to be a continuous siege until Trump is dead.

There are about 500 people living in the vicinity of the proposed oil wells, and it is 800km from the next nearest town of 250 people.
It is extremely isolated. The entirety of Iceland is closer to the area than 90% of Greenland's population.
I am not saying that a group of motivated and local Greenlanders could not make their way up and boot them out, but the regional and national apparatus is not designed for this kind of action.
I would actually say Iceland's police force and coast guard would be able to do more here than Greenland.
Denmark and the European NATO countries can very easily deal with this though.

I don’t want to hear another fucking word on soft, unarmed Americans who are more likely to stay at home out of fear of talking to another person in society not personally removing him, somehow, when the people with fucking armies won’t remove some crates of equipment and maybe park a couple war boats on the coast as a loaner “coast guard”.
I’d imagine that kind of isolated makes bombs less of a chaotic risk and you only need one or two Icelanders to agree with me.
If they are in Greenland without a permit, are they technically illegal immigrants who are part of organized crime (the drilling operation)?
