I admire your optimism.

Voters do. Democrats don't. This is a voter issue at this point and framing it like a political party is gonna come save you is why people are apathetic.

[-] kreskin@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago

the democratic party will actively try to eff us over like they always do. We have to hold them accountable for their actions or we may as well just let AIPAC openly run the party.

Why does anyone think there are still chances left?

edit: to clarify, I mean there are no more chances to "halt the erosion of US democracy"--it done eroded already. We're starting over now. The only thing we don't know yet is whether the coming elections will be free and fair. If they are, we can start rebuilding with a new movement to replace the old failed parties. If not, other steps will wind up being taken, one way or another.

Honestly this reply is a solid way to put it, there's a lot that can't be said until it's time to talk about it. It does come down to November and if we have elections that are fair it should be a sweep. We're seeing already in smaller red districts huge flips, so if its anything but a totally blow out something was going on. My guess is Dems stopped saying what they're going to do so a plan can't be made against it, everyone just locked in held their ground and shut up. Couple more months, america in the balance, somethings gonna happen either way. The most important midterms I've ever seen personally.

No. The last chance was 2024. They lost. That was the last fair election. There is no way that the fascists have come this far and gained total control only to give it up because of an election.

There's one way to defeat them and everyone knows what it is

Democrats are complicit. They have no motivation for the bulk of the citizenry to win.

[-] oozynozh@sh.itjust.works 29 points 5 days ago

establishment Dems, sure. but there are insurgent leftists winning national primaries all over the country.

[-] Malyca@lemmy.zip 8 points 5 days ago

My only concern is the money musk is pushing for the right. Money equals votes and always has, the dnc refuses to help anyone not establishment. I hope the money won't matter, but I think it will.

Fully believe Trump will send ice and militias out to attack polling stations or something like this.

Lets give the DNC football to Lucy. This is for the game, folks. It's all up to Charlie Browns kick.

[-] thethrilloftime69@feddit.online 26 points 5 days ago

What exactly have the Democrats done to inspire any confidence?

They want what trump wants. Is that not obvious at this point? Americans are dumber than rocks.

We're not all dumb, some of us are just full of hate, fears, and insecurities.

"a landslide defeat for President Donald Trump in November’s midterm elections is exactly what is required if the country is to start reversing his deliberate and rapid erosion of its democracy"

that... seems unlikely to me. I mean, he's not popular, but his approval ratings aren't significantly worse than the last time he was president.

[-] Archimedes@sh.itjust.works 1 points 3 days ago

He'll get a landslide victory, mark my words.

It would help if they publicly said they will remove him and his criminals from the government. I don't wanna hear anything about it being a time for healing and reaching across the isle.

[-] Semi_Hemi_Demigod@lemmy.world 15 points 5 days ago

Oh look it’s this headline again. Just like every election in my entire life.

[-] blattrules@lemmy.world 13 points 5 days ago

“Democrats have one chance” …so we’re fucked.
