Wow, this is comprehensive. What I've read so far is great. I love the coral reef metaphor/imagery.
I'm reading the first part about Misskey, Pleroma, etc. I never looked too much into these platforms, but I always felt like Mastodon needs more competition. I might check out Akkoma. Misskey Flavored Markdown sounds cool.
Federated universe is a decentralized, federated social media network that is interoperable with each other by using ActivityPub protocol.
