LLMs can't take over shit.

The people profiting off this bubble can absolutely continue to leech money that could have been used for employees or other investments to create a surveillance and propaganda tool for corpos and govt, though.

If "AI" was as good as they are advertising it as, they would not be struggling to meet revenue targets.

LLMs aren't the only form of AI that exist/will exist in the future

LLMs are the only "AI" with the resources and development allegedly capable of "taking over the world" in the reality we currently live in.

I’m intrigued. Can you explain what resources this particular AI possesses that others don’t, and why others don’t/if or when they will match?

Compute and finance. LLMs are the "AI" companies are currently dumping all this processing power and research into. Sunk cost fallacy style.

Image is just for an idea of what/how much resources we are talking about.

Oh wow. That’s interesting. Seems like different AI companies are ‘fuelling’ each other, effectively

I would recommend watching a few vids from or featuring Ed Zitron. He has been tracking the financial side of the "AI boom" we are currently in and it basically amounts to a race to corner the market like Google did during the .com bubble.

The primary difference is that the .com bubble created massive progress for Fiber Optic infrastructure, which we are still using today.

In the AI bubble, they are investing in data center build out which is much more limited in who has access and use for it. As well as the fact that, as technology progresses, the components inside these data centers (GPUs, processors, RAM, etc.) will need to be replaced at a massive cost.

Thanks, I might give it a look

To be fair, it's not "taking over the world". A lot of people are (ab)using it thinking it gives them productivity superpowers (it doens't and makes everyone around them see them as talentless hacks)

The real problem (besides the near infinite debt that won't ever be paid) is the neverending hype, with ai-evangelists being worse than cryptobros once they moved to NFTs

Absolutely. I think you’ve hit the nail on the head.

That doesn’t mean that there won’t be people out there who still argue AI is taking over the world though. At this stage it’s more like an invasion/swarm I would say

Welcome to the official Anti-AI Alliance (AAA)!

My name is the Anti-AI Leader, and in case you haven’t guessed, I am the leader of this community for people as disgruntled and disillusioned with AI as I have become!

By joining the Anti-Ai Alliance, you are entering a space to freely express your true distain towards all things Artificial Intelligence (AI). And it’s not even exclusive to people who don’t use AI at all — users of AI are just as welcome to sign up and discuss the issues with AI in the world.

Our only rule is to follow the very basic of the fediverse’s common rules (I.e. no spam, no porn, etc.) Other than that, you may post whatever you like, though we do strongly encourage you to keep the discussion focussed on distain for/the negative aspects of AI. Discussion on the (potential) positive aspects of AI are also welcome, but may be subject to scrutiny/open debate.

Many thanks and welcome, The Anti-AI Leader
