Is it just me, or OP kinda sounds like Mussolini censoring "cunt" like that?

[-] Wispy2891@lemmy.world 9 points 9 hours ago
  • "bad" word censored for not tripping the Facebook OCR filter ✅
  • Logo of a movie that's currently spending a lot of marketing money, perfectly centered and with properly applied transparency ✅

Result: definitely an organic meme, not sponsored

[-] mastod0n@lemmy.world 6 points 9 hours ago

It's "cunt". What, did you think this post is monetized?

[-] FatVegan@leminal.space 4 points 4 hours ago

When i see the ofiicial movie logo, perfectly cut out and placed, i tend to think it's just an ad. Writing cunt and "new capeshit£ in ms paint would be a meme.

Why is this stupid bullshit advertisement on Lemmy?

[-] laurenceOfSuburbia@lemmy.world 2 points 16 hours ago* (last edited 16 hours ago)

cmon bro, lighten up a bit. its just a stupid movie

[-] Cethin@lemmy.zip 1 points 5 hours ago

If we just let ads take over Lemmy then it'll be as shit a place to be as Reddit is. We shouldn't be advertising for them. They have enough money to pay for it.

[-] razen@lemmy.world 1 points 9 hours ago

Being honest there wasnt really anything to spoil majorly.

For me this was the weakest movie of Spiderman in terms of Tom Holland spiderman movies.

[-] BlackPenguins@lemmy.world 1 points 2 hours ago

Really. >!That crazy character reveal? Nothing at all?!< It was one of the best Spider-Man movies because it wasn't typical MCU slop.

It turns out they were on Earth the entire time. That's what the collapsed Statue of Liberty shot at the end was all about.

[-] ChickenLadyLovesLife@lemmy.world 3 points 15 hours ago* (last edited 15 hours ago)

God damn you all to hell.

Speaking of which, it's pretty wild to imagine that the one part of NYC surviving a thousand years into the future would be a big head made of thin copper sheets attached to an iron frame.

[-] Viking_Hippie@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 17 hours ago

So they DID take my suggestion of making the next Spiderman movie a shot for shot remake of the original Planet of the Apes?

Sweet! 🥳

[-] ivanafterall@lemmy.world 3 points 16 hours ago

It was similar, but overall it gave me major Dear Zachary vibes.

[-] EnsignWashout@startrek.website 10 points 19 hours ago

I'm beginning to suspect we're allowed to swear here...

Cunt.
The word is cunt. Cunty Cunty Cunt.
There, now you can rest easy and not have to wonder what the word was.

[-] Venator@lemmy.nz 2 points 10 hours ago

I thought this was a new word for a document that isn't a CV 😅

[-] BigBoyShuanzee@aussie.zone 20 points 1 day ago

I assume this meme was made by an American.

It's spelt: C U N T And in my country it's not gendered language.

I am a white man and I've been called a cunt more times than I can count. And I've called my friends and random people a cunt so many insane amounts of times that even the greatest computer on earth couldn't calculate it.

[-] adam_y@lemmy.world 3 points 16 hours ago

Which country? I'm in Glasgow and it's practically a term of affection.

[-] BigBoyShuanzee@aussie.zone 1 points 15 hours ago

Australian And yes it's almost a term of affection.. But we still use it derogatory towards our friends He calls me An anxious cunt, I call him a miserable cunt.

[-] SpongyAneurysm@feddit.org 1 points 18 hours ago

And I've called my friends and random people a cunt so many insane amounts of times that even the greatest computer on earth couldn't calculate it.

So about 42 times?

Me watching people take MCU seriously after endgame 7 years ago in which it became painfully obvious Disney ran out of ideas just like they did with every other franchise they own.

[-] catsarebadpeople@sh.itjust.works 3 points 9 hours ago

Someone who apparently hasn't watched anything MCU in 7 years trying to convince everyone that there are no new ideas. It's comic books man. I get that it's too lowbrow for you but just let people like things if they want to.

[-] Vespair@lemmy.zip 4 points 19 hours ago

Comics have always waxed and waned. Some of the great storylines in comics happen between some of the worst. Imo it makes sense that the films following this model could do the same, and writing all of the off forever because you haven't been 100% satisfied every time seems silly.

It's okay to not like the MCU, and it's okay to be done with it. But you seem to be suggesting that the MCU was once good in your eyes - why do you think that somebody that has been proven to you to be good once is not capable of being good again?

[-] SpongyAneurysm@feddit.org 4 points 18 hours ago

If you want, you can try to sell it to me.

I was a teen when the very first Spiderman movie came out, and I found it quite entertaining at the time. (Kirsten Dunst might have had something to do with it)

I was also ok with the X-Men and saw Iron Man, which still was okayish but started to feel a bit silly to me.

I've kinda lost interest in those kinds of superhero movies. Sure I kinda liked Watchmen, if only for the great soundtrack, and ofc I've seen the praised Batman Trilogy (Begins, Dark Knight, Returns), I also kinda enjoyed Kickass for being partly a parody of its own genre. But after that era, I've never really felt the urge to watch any of these movies.

What am I missing out on? Which movies do you consider a must see (or at least great entertainment) even for someon who doesn't know a whole lot about the MCU beforehand and has never read a comic book like that?

[-] Vespair@lemmy.zip 2 points 18 hours ago* (last edited 18 hours ago)

I mean, don't take this the wrong way, but I don't work for Marvel Studios marketing department so I don't really feel much incentive to sell you. I got no vested interest here, I just thought it was odd that the dude could acknowledge THING could and has been great in the past but while thinking THING couldn't be great again despite the prior acknowledgement. That's all.

That said, I am a comic book diehard and I am also still very onboard with the MCU. I'd say the new Spider-Man is one of my favorite films in the greater universe.... but it's also absolutely not a film you should go into blind. It requires at least having seen the previous Tom Holland Spider-Man films, bare minimum.

But if you're at all interested in the MCU and haven't dipped your toe in yet, my recommendation is simple: Watch Guardians of the Galaxy vol.1-3. These are, imo, the peak of the MCU (GOTG vol.2 is one of my favorite movies of all-time, in fact) and they're also in some ways the most self-contained, so they don't rely on a lot of connective tissue for their impact.

[-] SpongyAneurysm@feddit.org 1 points 18 hours ago

I took you for a fan, that's why I was asking. I meant 'sell' figuratively ofc.

I wasn't wrong, since you took the bait.

And I think my local library has Guardians of the Galaxy lying around on DVD. So I might actually give those a shot some time soon. Or at least the first one, and see how it goes. And maybe that Spider-Man incarnation. At least he's a character I'm kinda familiar with. I remember playing him in Marvel vs Street Fighter a lot.

[-] Vespair@lemmy.zip 1 points 17 hours ago

The first of the Holland Spider-Man films, Homecoming, is excellent. The only reason I didn't recommend the Spider-Man series to you is because I think the second and third entries are a little shakier, and as a comics fan a bit "more Holland than Peter" to me, but this most recent fourth entry in the series is just as excellent as the first. So if you like the character already, check 'em out.

[-] TastyWheat@lemmy.world 1 points 16 hours ago
