His shield was really fancy, to be fair. The main lesson is that when you dip your baby in invincibility juice you need to swap the ankle you’re holding them by and dip again.

[-] Simulation6@sopuli.xyz 18 points 4 weeks ago

Why not dip your hand in the water also? What was the issue with doing that?

[-] mnemonicmonkeys@sh.itjust.works 20 points 4 weeks ago

You still wouldn't get the bits of ankle covered by the fingers

[-] Big_Boss_77@lemmy.world 7 points 4 weeks ago

Could've just tossed his ass in, he'd be invincible, he'd manage...

[-] Wrufieotnak@feddit.org 7 points 3 weeks ago

Oh no, those are exactly the kind of twists the ancient Greeks loved: invincible doesnt mean unable to drown.

[-] guynamedzero@piefed.zeromedia.vip 4 points 4 weeks ago

I think it was actually that you wouldn’t be harmed, but by being fully submerged, it would kill the person going in.

[-] chonglibloodsport@lemmy.world 6 points 4 weeks ago

Or just hold him upright and dip both his feet in the water first before flipping him upside down to flip again.

[-] GargleBlaster@feddit.org 1 points 4 weeks ago

But wouldn't that double the invincibility and cancel out so you get a guy that can be harmed everywhere except the heel?

[-] Cethin@lemmy.zip 5 points 4 weeks ago

Ok, so you dip them, switch heels and dip again, then hold both and dip again. Then you get full coverage.

[-] GargleBlaster@feddit.org 9 points 4 weeks ago

Or just chuck them in completely

Sure, just throw your baby in a bath of blood, what could go wrong?

[-] anomnom@sh.itjust.works 5 points 4 weeks ago

Babies float and naturally hold their breath. Just grab them before they get upset and you’ll be fine.

[-] somethingsnappy@lemmy.world 1 points 3 weeks ago

Main lesson is put the shield on the heel.

[-] JeeBaiChow@lemmy.world 34 points 4 weeks ago

So... The heel is netanyahu's mood on any given day? Yknow, killswitch and all that?

[-] ImWaitingForRetcons@lemmy.world 31 points 4 weeks ago

We saw that the Nazisraeli system can be overwhelmed by quantity- and guess who’s one of the foremost producers of drones in the region? Why it’s ole’ Türkiye, Greece’s archnemesis! Achilles Shield is right, lol

[-] Jankatarch@lemmy.world 15 points 4 weeks ago

In case anyone thinks "archnemesis" is a hyperbole.

EU warna Turkey after violating Greek airspace 141 times in one day.

Considering Turkey carried out a genocide on the Greek people of Asia Minor I would hope nobody doubts that.

[-] DragonTypeWyvern@midwest.social 2 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

The foundational myth of Turkey revolves around the time Greece tried to genocide them immediately after forming from the ruins of the Ottomans, based on a (then) century old irredentist screed.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greco-Turkish_War_(1919%E2%80%931922)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Megali_Idea

The last time this was seriously pushed has been a bit though, when a literal fascist junta overthrew Greek democracy after they didn't like an election.

That junta was the cause of the Cyprus crisis, after they planned to genocide the Turks living on the island and seize it entirely... And of course, after Turkey crushed those clowns, they immediately tried to seize Cyprus for themselves.

The point isn't that Turkey is innocent, the Pontic genocide might have been started by the Ottomans but Ataturk certainly didn't bother stopping it, it's that pretending they're the sole aggressor in this feud because of a century old crime with no attention paid to Greek reprisals is showing a very obvious, and very obviously sourced, bias.

[-] lama@lemmy.world 21 points 3 weeks ago

If only there was already a Greek mythological shield which offered divine protection that they could have named this after...

[-] probable_possum@leminal.space 18 points 4 weeks ago* (last edited 4 weeks ago)

Technically true: the success rate of hitting missiles with missiles will never be 100%. And even if the defender is successful he will have lost at least 2 missiles for each one incoming. Which is a win for the attacker.

The name is quite fitting.

[-] nullspace@lemmy.world 8 points 4 weeks ago

I'm starting a business selling cheap attack drone swarms. Think I'll call it... Heel.

[-] justme@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 4 weeks ago

I'm pretty sure that market is already oversaturated

[-] LH0ezVT@sh.itjust.works 2 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

I don't think there is such a thing as too over saturated when it comes to drone swarms

[-] marcos@lemmy.world 9 points 4 weeks ago

Well, an almost invincible guy that had only this one weak spot...

[-] kossa@feddit.org 6 points 3 weeks ago

Wonder where they build these two huge boats, which are almost half as big as Crete.

[-] Colonel_Panic_@eviltoast.org 7 points 3 weeks ago

No your perspective is all wrong. Those are normal sized boats. They shrunk the country to make it easier to protect.

[-] Agent641@lemmy.world 5 points 3 weeks ago

Actually the country and boats are normal size, the boats are just closer to the camera than the land because they are going to put these battleships into orbit

[-] Colonel_Panic_@eviltoast.org 1 points 3 weeks ago

Space ships. It makes sense now!

[-] sundray@lemmus.org 4 points 4 weeks ago

No one tell them!

[-] dreadbeef@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 3 weeks ago

Who's gonna be throwing missiles at greece?

[-] DragonTypeWyvern@midwest.social 2 points 3 weeks ago

I think I found the weak point guys.
