It's always the people you most expect

[-] EvilBit@lemmy.world 140 points 1 month ago

He’s the kind of guy you just wonder when he’ll get sent up on some kind of sex offender charge, not if.

[-] fizzle@quokk.au 65 points 1 month ago

My confidence in such things has taken a real beating over the last few years. I'm relieved to see him charged.

[-] EvilBit@lemmy.world 12 points 1 month ago

Same. About goddamn time. Now let’s do the rest of them. R or D, I don’t care. You diddle kids, go straight to prison.

[-] halcyoncmdr@piefed.social 42 points 1 month ago

I mean he was already arrested for exactly that in Romania and somehow was allowed to leave the country to flee to the US.

[-] openchan@piefed.social 46 points 1 month ago

Because JD Vance vouched for him. You know, JD Vance the pedophile protector.

The day when we never have to hear about this man again is coming tantalisingly close.

[-] meco03211@lemmy.world 16 points 1 month ago

Titillatingly close even.

[-] raspirate@lemmy.world 10 points 1 month ago

Idk, I could probably bear to hear about him exactly one more time after he gets sent to prison.

You know, I haven't lived a perfect life. I've done things that I regret. I've broken hearts. I've burned bridges. I've let people down. These failures don't define my life, but, like most folks who aren't complete narcissists or psychopaths, I have my share of regrets. Like most, I've had dark moments where I wonder if I'm truly a good person, or if the world would be better off without me. I'm fine now, but life has had its ups and downs.

But moments like these are a useful salve for such feelings. The regrets I have are a big deal in my life, but nothing compared to this. My regrets are thing like when I've burned out of a job due to ADHD, let my coworkers pick up the slack, and then quit on short notice when I hit a wall, leaving them holding the bag. Or when I had to break up with someone I had been with for years, in a relationship where mutual feelings still existed, simply because of incompatible life and relationship goals. Or how, despite all we tried, we weren't able to save my little brother from the opioid epidemic; the fact that I as an older sibling wasn't able to save my little brother. Or times I've let my spouse down. These are the kinds of regrets that eat at my soul. And I've never physically hurt anyone, never cheated on a partner. Just ordinary life regrets.

Those are the kinds of regrets I have. Those are the things that when I'm at my worst make me feel like a monster. I know none of those are objectively evil acts. But feelings aren't rational.

But then I look at someone like Tate. I feel grief and shame for things that aren't even really my fault. And this man is unrepentant despite a lifetime of committing the most vile acts a human being can commit. Human trafficking. Rape. Child pornography. He unapologetically treated human beings as disposable trash, on a mass scale, and bragged to the world about it. That is a universe of evil that is simply beyond my understanding.

Some say God has a plan or purpose for everyone. I think Andrew Tate's purpose, if he has any at all, is to be such a human monster, that ordinary people, healthy but flawed human beings, can get a reality check on their own self-doubts and self-hate. If there is any good at all that has come from Tate's life, it would have to be something like this. This tiniest of silver linings in cloud of pus and shit.

Joseph D McBride, the Tates’ lawyer, told reporters that his clients were innocent. He said: “They’ve never done nothing wrong. They shouldn’t be extradited for crimes they didn’t commit. It’s garbage. It’s a stitch-up job.”

Well Joseph is correct on half of that comment.. The double negative “they’ve never done nothing wrong” is entirely correct, and he’s also right that they shouldn’t be extradited for crimes they didn’t commit. There’s plenty of crimes they did commit that they should be extradited for.

[-] TwodogsFighting@lemdro.id 28 points 1 month ago

I looked up their lawyer. Jesus Christ.

[-] No_Eponym@lemmy.ca 24 points 1 month ago

No no no, the lawyer isn't Christ. According to the lawyer, its the J6 rioters are analogous to Jesus Christ.

[-] victorz@lemmy.world 12 points 1 month ago
[-] Spot@startrek.website 44 points 1 month ago

McBride hosts a YouTube channel titled "Judgment Day With Joe McBride." He claims that someone attempted to assassinate him for his role representing January 6 defendants by remotely taking control of his 2020 BMW X5 M-Sport and attempting to cause him to crash at high speed. He additionally claims that in the aftermath of this assassination attempt, his 2020 BMW X5 M-Sport would only drive in reverse, and that he drove from the Fort McHenry Tunnel to Washington D.C. (approximately 39 miles) in reverse.[39]

He additionally claims that he simultaneously experienced Lyme Disease, Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, the Epstein-Barr virus, and long COVID after being vaccinated for COVID-19.[40]

It doesn't feel right agreeing with such an amazingly stupid arsehole but he's right when he says "They've never done nothing wrong".

It's true... They've never done anything right.

They're being charged in the UK. All Trump can do is refuse to extradite; but that just means they're bared from the UK and anywhere else that has an extradition treaty with the UK.

This puts the US admin in a weird spot. This guy is charged with possessing CA images. Will the USA protect him or hand him over?

It kinda sets a precedence in a way on if pedos are protected or not. We all know the reality but in such a high profile situation like this where there is a charge and he is not politician what will they do?

IMO, Given he is partially African American and generally operated out of the UK, they will hand him over, but that sends the very clear message pedos are to be punished.

Interesting position that’s occurring here (I suspect by design of the UK) . The USA protects its pedophiles, however verbalizing protection of a non white not fully American pedophile is a possible stretch.

[-] smeenz@lemmy.nz 44 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

The US doesn't protect pedos per se, it protects the disgustingly rich and those connected to them.

It's just that there's a great deal of overlap between that group and the pedos

I suspect Tate is not in the obscenely weathy group, or he wouldn't have been imprisoned in the first place.

With every instance like this, it grows both hilarious and tragic that right wing figures of the like will inevitably, at some point, happen themselves upon a bit of CP on their hard drive

By all means of logic no political group, let alone a political direction, should be this consistent with their ability to be pedophiles, but here we are
