Ah reminds me of the politicians who think Rage Against The Machine isn't political!

Two novels that this reminded me of.

"The Iron Dream" by Norman Spinrad. The book starts with a forward that explains that Adolf Hitler left Germany in 1920 and started illustrating science fiction pulps in New York's Greenwich Village. By 1933 he felt comfortable enough to transition to writing stories. Cut to the 'novel.' A young man returns from exile to find his homeland overrun by vile mutants who use mind control to subjugate the pure humans. With fire, steel, and a magic weapon he leads his troops to victory.

"Flashman" by George M. Fraser. Flashman was originally a minor character in a book titled "Tom Brown's Schooldays" That book was read and loved by generations of British boys. Flashman was a bully and a rogue who is expelled. In the Fraser novel Flashy comes into his own when he joins the British army. He's a coward, thief, murderer, rapist, and at one point works as a slave dealer.

It's one of the few books that paints the colonizers as they were.
