The US auto industry was actually the Canadian-Mexican-American “Light-Truck Loophole" industry.
Trump destroyed that with tariffs.

US auto makers will fail and I refuse to bail them out.
You think you have a choice?
The 2009 bailouts weren't of the companies or their management. Shareholders were wiped out, and the internal divisions were sold off for parts (somewhat famously, GMAC, the financing arm of GM, became independent as Ally Bank).
The bailouts were to make the newly reorganized entities actually make good on warranties with customers and the collective bargaining agreements with their workers.
That's how bailouts are supposed to work. Save the other side of the transaction from the failures of the deadbeat company, and then wipe out the actual owners.
if we are lucky theyll all die... but they will not go quiet. assholes never do
I don't much care about the owners, but killing them without creating an electric replacement is not good for the workers.
The only country they will be able to sell their products is in the US because it’s a backwards shithole. And here come the bailouts that only benefit the ~~workers~~ shareholders.
American cars have been expensive crap for a long time now. This backward industry deserves to die a quick death
Overview:
Electric Vehicles are a key part of our tomorrow and how we get there. If we can get all the fossil fuel vehicles off our roads, out of our seas and out of our skies, we'll have a much better environment. This community is where we discuss the various different vehicles and news stories regarding electric transportation.
