The tech giant is in breach of the Digital Services Act by focusing on features like infinite scroll, autoplay, push notifications, and the highly personalized recommendation algorithms, the European Commission said.

Non-technical people need to be lectured about properly addressing this issue before the age verification scourge gobbles up all the world’s jurisdictions as 60% of Americans have the false belief that “age verification is the only way to protect children from social media platforms.” according to PewResearch.

Age verification is really just about identity verification. "Show us your papers" version of the internet.

Age verification is fine but it needs a proper e-ID public platform (similar to the ones used in Europe for e-democracy) which can limitedly share whether you pass the age check or not.

The reason for this is that social media has similar addiction rates as gambling, where you you should be asked your age at the door if you do.
