While it is hard to link climate change to individual extreme weather events, scientists say climate change is making heatwaves more frequent and intense.

The only mention of climate change, right at the very bottom of the article, and as near as they can get to dismissing it without being accused of denial. The BBC is a fucking joke of a public broadcaster.

The amount of people bringing up summer of 76 is demoralising. It seems like that summer was really hot compared to other cool years. While the last few years have all been breaking records…

I was in the UK for a couple of weeks in the summer of 76, but didn't realise what an outlier it was until I was actually living there a few years later. I'm from New Zealand, and it seemed like fairly normal summer weather to me.

More serious politics should go in !uk_politics@feddit.uk.

Posts should be related to UK-centric news, and should be either a link to a reputable source, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread.

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.
