Why don’t we finally revoke Intellectual property protections we granted under DCMA and TTIP. If Trump does not feel bound by these agreements neither should we.

[-] Capable_Coping@piefed.social 54 points 2 weeks ago

Doing away with intellectual property in its entirety would be such a good retaliation to this techno fascist bullshit

[-] Zacryon@feddit.org 20 points 2 weeks ago

Doing awey with IP in general would be a good idea as long as we move past this kind of capitalistic society we live in. Let's share our ideas with everyone and advance.

Will he declare war and then negotiate a 300 billion peace deal with Europe?

[-] ik5pvx@lemmy.world 17 points 2 weeks ago

Make it for each member country and we have a deal

[-] HaiZhung@feddit.org 65 points 2 weeks ago

That’s a very good indicator that taxing them is a good idea.

[-] GandalftheBlack@feddit.org 44 points 2 weeks ago

What's he going to do? America is running out of feet to be shot in.

[-] SeductiveTortoise@piefed.social 14 points 2 weeks ago

He can shoot himself in the dick instead, that'd be a fair substitute for me.

[-] ByteJunk@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago

Cut him some slack, he's been trying but even the top army snipers would have trouble with that shot.

Punished... How? It worked very well on other instances right? 🤣

[-] Lumidaub@feddit.org 25 points 2 weeks ago

He's going to make his subjects pay more for things they can't buy in their own country. That'll show us.

[-] pulsey@feddit.org 15 points 2 weeks ago

maybe by giving us $300B? That punishment worked wonders on Iran /s

[-] kablez@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago

Through persistent psychological torture of a kind not seen since the 20th century.

They'll be given free access to CoPilot and Teams.

[-] alexquiniou@lemmy.zip 22 points 2 weeks ago

Yeah, cool. Now go fuck yourself.

President Trump threatened to scrap a just-finalized trade deal with the European Union

So, just Trump being Trump. 🤷‍♂️

[-] ByteJunk@lemmy.world 18 points 2 weeks ago

What did he do to Spain when they refused to let the US use their bases for attacking Iran? Oh, nothing? Fucking TACO.

All profit needs to be taxed.

The larger the profit, the larger the tax. Thats the ONLY way we can all continue to coexist peacefully in a society.

[-] littletoolshed@lemmy.world 12 points 2 weeks ago

Aren’t all of those corporations already operating and being taxed in Europe?

[-] GenosseFlosse@feddit.org 21 points 2 weeks ago

As far as I know there is some tax loophole, that's why the tech giants are all registered in Ireland for their EU headquarters.

[-] Evil_Incarnate@sopuli.xyz 19 points 2 weeks ago

Sell MacBook for €2000 in France, pay royalties to apple Ireland of €2000. Apple France has no profit, apple Ireland has little tax.

[-] boonhet@sopuli.xyz 7 points 2 weeks ago

There's no need for an Apple France in this scheme.

Apple isn't selling physical goods in most European countries, Apple partners are. The Ireland entity is there for the digital services revenue mostly

[-] Randelung@lemmy.world 6 points 2 weeks ago

Time to turn off Amazon, then. It's a scourge, anyway.

[-] Damage@feddit.it 3 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Nationalize it. No wait, the EU isn't a nation... Unionize it! No wait that's a different thing....

[-] ExLisper@lemmy.curiana.net 3 points 2 weeks ago

He will change his mind 3 times before Friday.

@Valuy

My comment🖕

[-] chmod755@feddit.org 1 points 1 week ago

I have a better idea: the EU should introduce a "Big Tech convenience fee", so it's not a country and not taxing.
