That's really interesting

I hope the union representation they get will understand the very unique way wikipedia is structured so they don't completely destroy the financing model wikipedia currently lives under.

Wikipedia was better before it was controlled by corporate interests. Your donation means nothing when Blackrock gets to decide what is kept and changed on wikipedia.

i think this project by one of lemmy's developers is pretty good providing a way to make that be true again. development is still going and there isn't a great adoption yet but it's promising. https://github.com/Nutomic/ibis
