Windows 2000 was nice. MS could have pretty much stopped there.
Win2000 was the last version of windows I installed on any device I owned.
Office 2000 was totally fine too. Apart from clippy.
How does this compare to now?
In the server space, both FreeBSD and Linux systems are well-regarded. Linux caught up since that post and receives more support now, obviously, but I wouldn't flinch when encountering FreeBSD (or other *BSDs for that matter) as a server.
As for Windows... yeah, just look at the news regarding that...
Thank you 🙏
Linux
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Linux is a family of open source Unix-like operating systems based on the Linux kernel, an operating system kernel first released on September 17, 1991 by Linus Torvalds. Linux is typically packaged in a Linux distribution (or distro for short).
Distributions include the Linux kernel and supporting system software and libraries, many of which are provided by the GNU Project. Many Linux distributions use the word "Linux" in their name, but the Free Software Foundation uses the name GNU/Linux to emphasize the importance of GNU software, causing some controversy.
