Hard pass. Only if they axed the licensing fee would I start to consider it as an alternative. Right now it's just a grift.

I can’t see myself upgrading my TV or attached devices for quite a while
It already does 4k 120hz and that is never used by me, can’t imagine any new TV tech selling me on an upgrade for the next 10 years
There is an important qualifier, though: devices can be HDMI 2.2 certified without delivering the very fastest data speeds, so you'll need to study the spec sheets of any potential purchases.

What’s the point of having a “standard” if it’s really more of a standard…ish?
Oh great, it's USB3 all over again. Or should I say USB 3.1? Or USB 3.2 Gen 1x1? I know those are real things, but I have no idea what they actually mean.
As a linux user on amd i'm just happy to hopefully finally get hdmi 2.1 support lol. I'll probably be good for a long time after that considering 4k 144hz is already hard to drive.
Excellent. It's nice to know my 1080p 60hz content will have lots of room to spread out
Will I be able to tell the difference? If not then it's not going to sale.
