Yeah, that's the one. God this makes me feel old.

One of the best. Any others?

It's so awesome to see this one. The group's website was something like Breedhive dot org, and it was incredible looking - in the same style as this skin, but I haven't been able to find it on the archive. Considering how image heavy the website was, it probably wouldn't have gotten archived properly anyway. The members had some great PS tutorials on DeviantArt back in its heyday. Last time I visited DA it looked like a shell of itself. I'm not sure they even have a meaningful tutorial section anymore.
Edit: breedart dot org, late 2001. I bothered to check the readme and it has the link. At least now I can look up some of the old members and maybe see if any are still active.

I was right about the images. A few of the orange, embryo things were button images that failed to get archived. Still happy to have found anything. It feels like it's getting more rare to find stuff from between web 1.0, through the dotcom bubble bursting, to late web 2.0.
"Skin museum" might be the worst thing you could've called it
I hadn't thought of it like that until now...
Hm.
Better than a skin emporium, at least :)
That's my new band name
Thanks for this. So nostalgiac, I had so many of these skins on Winamp years ago.
Computers were so much fun back then
Thank you so much for sharing. I miss the ability to fully customize my app with a theme. So playful, so artistic.
I am currently developing a chat app and because of this post, I will now try to implement a comprehensive theming engine, so users can easily create themes and share them.
God that brings me back. I think I remember using the Xbox skin but there was one more that I don't remember the name of.
EDIT: managed to somehow find it after some web searching, but it's not in the museum. It's this one.
I for sure had the Domo kitten and Inuyasha one, probably others I’ve long since forgotten.
Thanks OP, beyond the few limited GitHub pages of skins I knew of nowhere to find stuff like this. You're a gent!
Love it. Spybreak! Good choice, very era appropriate. Boo, it doesn't play, copyright I guess.
Major Tom was my favorite.
God, maximalist UIs are a pain to read with my old eyes.
A lot of them are definitely sacrificing usability for style, but some in there have some great contrast and usability. Definitely very hard to use on modern displays without scaling them up with Audacious.
I didn't know which community to post something in, and so here we are.
