ϟ <- that was the symbol, and they placed it twice which is the SS logo. They were apparently intending it to be on either side of another sun symbol, and the symbol itself as a rune apparently means sun or light
I can see it being an accident

I have not confirmed it but read in other threads that this allegedly did not go out to German users. If that is true it is certainly not an accident because it is only in Germany (afaik) where displaying Nazi symbols is illegal. So someone must have realised what it looks like and then chose to do the legally correct thing only.
Several Germans posted screenshots of them getting the original email with runes. Others said they got the washed version.
Oopsie, I accidentally did the funny salute
It could be, but the game is called The End of the Sun, and has a pagan aesthetic, so using the rune for "sun" makes sense. The game logo uses the same symbol for the S in "sun" as well. It's a lot more plausible than "Musk is just autistic" but who knows
I'm done with their crap. They handled this in the absolute worst way. Their excuses are contradictory and on Reddit they basically did Nazi apologia. If I hadn't deleted my account back when they generated AI images for some sale or whatever, I'd definitely delete it now. They won't learn from this. Something similar will happen again. It's actually pretty easy to NOT put Nazi symbols in the email title ffs 😒
Yeah, I am in the same camp. Their various explanations do not line up and it all reeks of them doing damage control after they showed their power level. I still have an account on GoG, but haven't used it in ages and now I am definitely not inclined to use it again.
What did Gabe mean by this?
Wrong company. GOG is an acronym for Good Old Games, which isn't Steam.
