So being anti-fascist is being a terrorist? I sure am glad most of the WW2 vets aren’t here to witness that everything they fought for would make them a terrorist.

[-] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 4 points 3 days ago

Plenty of the American WW2 veterans moved on to fighting in Korea and then Vietnam.

Authoritarianism is an admission of abject weakness.

White supremacists are the weakest and most brittle snowflakes.

Not "antifa", anti-fascists. They're just admitting it now.

[-] Zaktor@sopuli.xyz 76 points 5 days ago

I also like how the Islamic terrorists are "legacy" as if there's nothing going on right now that could be generating a whole new generation of Anti-American terrorists. It's only some old guys who still hate us for our 2000's freedom.

What is this from? This sounds like it is written by AI and not even proofread.

I swear this whole administration is vibe-coded.

"including Anarchists and Anti-Fascists"...so straight up admitting that they are the target of anti-fascist groups. Aaaaaand what does that make them? Could it be....fascist? </churchlady>

Ignores the one group that literally every reputable study says is the most violent in the US: right-wing extremists...

[-] BlameTheAntifa@lemmy.world 32 points 5 days ago

Does anyone know if these left-wing extremists, anarchists, and anti-fascists are accepting applicants? How are the health plans?

Fucking ridiculous.

What's next, democrats are terrorists?

[-] Sunflier@lemmy.world 25 points 4 days ago

They're working up to it. Maybe they'll organize a ~~Reichstag~~ Republican Headquarters Fire first.

The fascist terrorists are classifying everyone else as terrorists like the little pissbaby fuckfaces they are.

[-] WizardofFrobozz@lemmy.ca 13 points 3 days ago

It is WAY past time for the US “left,” such as it is, to earn the labels it’s receiving.

The “if you want to cry, I’ll give you something to cry about” angle is what’s needed.

[-] shittydwarf@sh.itjust.works 115 points 5 days ago
[-] Wilco@lemmy.zip 34 points 4 days ago

I am Antifa. Antifa means Anti Fascist ... so yea, if MAGAs "hated enemy" is an antifascist movement then they have basically just classified themselves.

[-] korazail@lemmy.myserv.one 11 points 4 days ago

I really hate how media gladly reused this label.

Antifa, pronounced ant-tea-fuh, allowed it to be disconnected from the actual words it was shortened from, and then used as a boogieman.

We all know there is no central antifa command center, headquarters, or organization. We are "antifa" because we are anti fascism.

As you say, you can label yourself, but you can also label yourself by your enemies.

The anti-fascists are Trump's enemies, therefore...

[-] death_to_carrots@feddit.org 5 points 3 days ago

You're a ~~wizard~~ terrorist, Harry.

[-] vagrancyand@sh.itjust.works 52 points 5 days ago

Good News everyone, I'm now among the major terror groups.

So are 6 billion other people on the planet.

[-] backalleycoyote@lemmy.today 28 points 5 days ago

While this is just the next phase of fascism we all expected, and as incompetent as the FBI has become, no one should doubt that this is a dangerous escalation. I haven’t been able to fly for almost 20yrs because of “alleged” ties to ALF/ELF during the terror panic that birthed Homeland Security post-9/11. That was when the modern surveillance state was just getting rolling.

If you haven't already, I would start talking to your neighbors and organizing.

We already know the camps exist, and if you've seen some of the images that have been leaked you'll know the conditions are inhumane and cruel. These new labels can be applied to anyone, for any reason. And make no mistake, you don't even have to be in left-wing spaces to be accused and disappeared. So it's not just you in danger, it's everybody around you. It's your co-workers, your family, your friends. All it takes is a wrong place, wrong time.

Organize now, before you don't have that option anymore.

Yeah, nevermind the actual terrorists that do things like....checks notes....storm the Capitol, beat up police and were seeking to hang members of Congress and the Vice President in an effort to overturn a free and fair election.

Shortly after all the people who fought fascists died, the GOP declares being anti-fascist - terrorism.

[-] FrChazzz@lemmus.org 19 points 4 days ago

Recently had a WWII vet visit my parish. Dude was over 100 years old and was in town for a Pearl Harbor commemoration. He told me that he was among the first group of Allied soldiers to fly over Europe after the surrender and he described seeing people trying to make a life among the rubble of their towns and cities. He then compared this to what he was seeing in Gaza and started to lament the US' support of Israel and how he saw clear connections to what is going on there and what he witnessed in Europe. You're absolutely right, there are now too few living who remember...

[-] dan1101@lemmy.world 61 points 5 days ago

I don't think they know what a terror group is.

[-] Zombiepirate@lemmy.world 56 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

On the contrary; they just approve of Patriot Front and the Proud Boys.

And those are actual terror groups.

They're coming for us. This is the real reason for the camps.

[-] Thebeardedsinglemalt@lemmy.world 18 points 4 days ago

What's so disturbing to me is that all the conspiracy theory nutballs I've known, the ones who...

  • are hardcore preppers who said the economy was due to collapse into a post-apocalyptic dystopia anytime a Dem is in the white house

  • kept talking about the FEMA death camps at former railway hubs with barbed wire fences pointing inwards

  • think black helicopters are running urban pacification drills in cities

  • keep being up giant fields being leased by the govt to store nothing but thousands of plastic coffins

  • never shut up about "jackboot" "police states" during the entirety of Obama and Biden terms

They were all either hardcore right-wingers or simple "never trust the govt" types who suddenly started wearing maga hats

The political shootings were done by Republicans. So, clearly people against fascism are labeled terrorists. That's pure logic.

Amazing how quickly the meanimg of terrorism changed over the years. When it became ok to hate terrorists, suddenly anyone you hate can be relabeled as one.

[-] FrChazzz@lemmus.org 11 points 4 days ago

I was still an active member of a Baptist Church in the early 2000s and I remember arguing with the leader of my Sunday School group about the dangers of the Patriot Act and how it opens the door to stuff like this. He just waved it away as me being anti-authoritarian and paranoid. Well look who was proved to be right in the end, MATT?!?

We're armed too, fuckers. You don't want this.

[-] StarryPhoenix97@lemmy.world 16 points 4 days ago

This is the way. Get armed. Not because you want to enact violence but because you want to protect yourself and eventually they will find some trumped up reason to take away gun or ammo rights. You don't by a sword to become a highway man. You do it because there are already highway men with swords. It's a form of power.

“Politics is war without bloodshed, while war is politics with bloodshed.”

-misattributed to Mao, but it makes the point

For the sake of history, its worth noting that it wasn't the left taking the non-violent options off the table. Just saying. When you see this happen, consider it in the context of something like the war in Iran. When the administration does things like this, they do so without a plan and without consideration for the consequences.
