I am unfortunately inland so I sail in a small lake outside of Cincinnati.

Caesar Creek lake? I feel like that's more toward Dayton though... I used to live near there.

There's a guy who brings his own small sailing catamaran that looks like he made it in a garage.

Not many sailing boats on this lake that I've seen. I used to go out in a kayak multiple times a week and mostly it's fishing boats, expensive looking personal boats usually with 2-4 50-70yr Olds, and pontoons on weekends pulling inner tubes lol

The largest lake near me now is so small I can lap it in a 12ft kayak in 30 minutes...

But that's what camping trips are for lmao

Brookville, in Indiana! There's a decent amount of sailboats out there. The largest is I believe a 34'

I have a 26' Beneteau First 265

What book or film have you genuinely enjoyed for its authentic depiction of your passion? I'm looking for some good references for my D&D players, and I need to find something that captures the vibe.

some great books:

Nonfiction -

  • Sailing a serious ocean by John Kretschmer (or any other Kretschmer books, he's a great storyteller)
  • The Long Way by Bernard Moitessier
  • Maiden Voyage by Tania Aebi

As far as fiction, not really a "sailing" novel, but Moby Dick is a favorite of mine.
