@opensource #codeberg is great in creating cloud ☁️ repositories for images. Here l can easily store my images online, and also download them whenever and wherever I feel like.

However, the Codeberg team has contacted me and informed me that this isn't exactly the kind of use that Codeberg has been designed for. And they've given me a timeframe, after which they're going to delete my repository.

Can anybody suggest me some other platform where l can store my images and also download them at my convenience, which is as great as Codeberg ??

Do you have the skills to self-host? If so, you can host any number of cloud storage services: Nextcloud, Immich, Cryptpad. You could even host a Forgejo instance (the software Codeberg runs on) although it's really not intended for storing the kind of images you're talking about.

I am guessing, though, that you are probably not a very technical person, and self-hosting might be out of the question for you. In which case unfortunately your options are a fair bit more limited. There are free hosted Nextcloud instances—Disroot hosts one. Or you could go with something like Proton Drive. If you're open to proprietary options then there's several very widely used options like Dropbox, Google Drive, Mediafire, etc. But if you're posting here, you probably don't want those.

@communism thank you for suggesting me proton drive. I was actually looking for some alternative to Google drive.

My image files run in MBs. Does #proton drive offer a decent storage ??

@communism thanks. You've innerstood me inside out. I really need to grow my knowledge in self hosting. What sort of investment does it require ?

Another question is that dropbox runs on Java script. Pixels can work comfortably on HTML. Do you know of any platform that runs purely on HTML ??

What kind of images are we talking about? Container images, VM images, or good old images taken with a camera? It's not really clear from your post.

Well, I looked up your username on Codeberg and assumed https://codeberg.org/codewizard was you, so I thought you're a developer from the linked website.

Like what @pat_dev@social.linux.pizza said, sites like Codeberg and GitHub are intended to store code repositories, not photographs/albums and other personal files. If you were to host the source code of a website and have some images there that are part of the website, then sure, it's considered part of the website source.

I'd suggest looking for cloud drive/storage solutions (like we know it from Dropbox etc.) I've heard great things about Filen. They're based in Germany, end-to-end encrypted and their clients are open source. Or, of course, there's Nextcloud, but it either requires self-hosting skills or knowing someone who will host it for you (there are hosting providers out there).
