I hate socdem parties and their members being called socialist. There is nothing socialist about reforming capitalism.

[-] yogthos@lemmy.ml 11 points 1 month ago

no disagreement there

[-] eldavi@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 month ago

this one is extraordinary in the way it's been allowed to flourish in the us empire's backyard.

[-] sakuraba@lemmy.ml 5 points 1 month ago

it was not allowed because they didn't do shit, we already had universal health care but it was rebranded, unfunded and now funded again all within Morena's leadership

A reform that faces backlash and, by the force of collective movements, overcomes backlash and capitalist resistance, is a form of revolution. I think such movements may lead to socialism, or other things (better or worse).

Edit: who is downvoting me speak your mind, im curious... I know what i said doesnt sound like most leninist discourse, but in practice im not sure how they differ.

reminder argentina has had this and also universal public education for decades even through even more decades of IMF debt trap/economic imperialism. argentina and mexico can do it, but y'all from the us have to pay with your life for access to such things

[-] KoboldCoterie@pawb.social 7 points 1 month ago

Trust me, literally no one from the US needs a reminder that our health care system sucks. We think about that all the time.

[-] B0rax@feddit.org 3 points 1 month ago

Then go and vote for better politicians. Talk to those who don’t. Try to reason, get them to understand.

[-] KoboldCoterie@pawb.social 2 points 1 month ago

I live in one of the bluest states; I actually like our politicians well enough. My district's house rep in particular has been consistently on the right side of every important vote I've checked up on. As a result, though, I don't exactly have a lot of contact with the crazier part of the population.

Trust me, literally no one from the US needs a reminder that our health care system sucks. We think about that [every four years or when we personally need it]

fixed it for you.

[-] KoboldCoterie@pawb.social 2 points 1 month ago

I think about it every time I pay for health insurance, personally, which is every paycheck.

[-] eldavi@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 month ago

so do i every time i pay the annual maximum (forgot the made up word for it) every single year.

[-] DancingBear@midwest.social 14 points 1 month ago

Which is a basic minimum in all developed countries except the United States.

This is not even radical but is labeled socialist in the usa

[-] iceagec0mmie@lemmy.org 10 points 1 month ago

she ain't a socialist. she's just another settler that's reframing the way their medicine is already socialized. fuck this liberal trash.

[-] UltraGiGaGigantic@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 month ago

If only things got worse as incrementally as they got "better".

[-] pneumatron@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 month ago

This isn't the win that people think it is. We have no medicines in.out pharmacies. Some don't even have paracetamol. This is a morena fluff piece. She is corrupt af

[-] sakuraba@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

no but you see she is a self called leftlist so we can't critic her /s

it's really weird how leftist here will believe anything that sides with their narrative but willfully ignore how people living here in México are suffering

[-] pneumatron@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 month ago

The thing is I am an actual leftist, but this shit ain't it. 0 accountability at all for the governing party. Pure bread and circus.

[-] InternetCitizen2@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

Worse yet is making perfect the enemy of good that happens around Lemmy.

[-] sakuraba@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 month ago

that would imply it is good

[-] InternetCitizen2@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

The point is that its important to start somewhere. You don't have to end where you start.

[-] sakuraba@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 month ago

you see the thing is we are worse than we started with the current political party in power

that's like saying trump is good because he has to start somewhere instead of acknowledging the damage his decisions and cabinet have caused

[-] InternetCitizen2@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

Not at all the same.

We need a cultural shift to the left. Part of that is going to be soc dem to get people a taste of what they are missing.

Too many people on Lemmy let perfect be the enemy of good.

[-] sakuraba@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 month ago

cool, so where is the soc dem?

[-] InternetCitizen2@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

There aren't many, and its up to us to support them where we can.

[-] sakuraba@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 month ago

yeah I'm still waiting for you to point out why this is relevant to topic but I guess I'm out of luck

[-] webdoodle@lemmy.ml 4 points 1 month ago

This isn't about healing anyone, its about collecting private medical information on the population, and accidentally giving it to Billionaire's bent on stopping over-populations, and on long-term population control.

[-] sakuraba@lemmy.ml 4 points 1 month ago

this and the new rule to register our CURP with mobile carriers are some of the worst cyber security risks regarding personal information

US citizens can relate i guess

[-] acantharea@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

Must be nice - I need to get citizenship >_>

[-] sakuraba@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

you should know that even if there is access to healthcare right now we don't have medicines and getting any real help from the system will take you weeks or months for anything beyond a cold (and again, they won't have any meds, and if you need surgery you will be asked to provide blood donors and meds)

all that will be cheaper even on private hospitals when compared to US prices

[-] js346235476@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

They'll need to build a wall to keep the yanks out.

[-] HiddenLayer555@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 month ago

Hate to tell you this, but there is definitely already an influx of Americans immigrating to Mexico. They needed that wall yesterday.
