Something tells me we'll soon have a lot of disabled Epstein War veterans to thank for their service.

Imagine losing life and limb to distract from a pedophilia scandal...

I'm never thinking a service member again.

Sitting through the pledge of allegiance at public events is like my favorite recreational activity

[-] Entertainmeonly 8 points 2 months ago

Did you mean the national anthem? They only indoctrinate the children with the pledge.

[-] empireOfLove2@lemmy.dbzer0.com 10 points 2 months ago

The pledge is still said at many local governmental functions in the US. Both my city and county councils do it before each public meeting.

Have you ever been a municipal public meeting? they start them with a pledge of allegiance

[-] Entertainmeonly 8 points 2 months ago

No way! That's so crazy. I had no idea. I tend to block out those memories, so damn. I've not heard the pledge outside a classroom. I don't often partake in public meetings either, though.

It's absolutely surreal, ours also does a prayer and a thing for the troops on top of everything else. even our school committee meetings start with a pledge. this is in a blue state lol

[-] leoj@piefed.social 2 points 2 months ago

well it beats the lords prayer, thats what they say in red states. (thats a joke... I think)

I have told my kids not to participate in that jingoist ritual. Fortunately they seem to have stopped in our school district.

Thanking service members has always been fucking weird from a non-American point of view

Every time, EVERY FUCKING TIME he's in a picture with a fucking dictator, it looks like they have him by the balls.

Not just a bitch, he's their bitch.

This is a quagmire that has only one outcome: the utter and complete humiliation for US. Trump, being who he is, isn't going to concede, and will keep fighting this war, keep it going till he leaves office, and blame the next admin for it.

[-] ExLisper@lemmy.curiana.net 1 points 2 months ago

Two outcomes: humiliation of US and global recession.

[-] leoj@piefed.social 5 points 2 months ago

I was saying this a week ago... He won't be happy until he has sunk this country to the bottom of the ocean.

I don't know what more I could of done to stop this, sorry all.
