Americans are such a passive people. Their state can commit the worst atrocities, no peep from them. If this was any EU country, heads would be flying.

EDIT: After writing this, I thought and I disagree with my own statement. People suck. All people, generally. Some are a bit more passive than others, but generally, humanity sucks, people suck. We value comfort way too much and are not up to give up 0.1% of it, even in the face of atrocities. Principled people are very rare.

[-] Mangoholic@lemmy.ml 19 points 6 days ago

Not so sure about that. Children are still starving in gaza and most eu countries support isreal.

[-] shawn1122@sh.itjust.works 14 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago)

Sounds like an overstatement of the European civilian response. A majority of Westerners have generally supported colonial settler activities for the past 500 years.

Largest ever protest (at the time at least) and it didnt stop shit.

Good to see them trying but still disheartening

For the record, my upvote is for visibility. I do not like this.

[-] B0rax@feddit.org 16 points 6 days ago

Upvotes never were supposed to be „likes“. They are supposed to be „this is a valuable contribution and should be seen by more people“

[-] briser001@lemmy.zip 4 points 5 days ago

This American wept at this. I can’t imagine the pain.

[-] harcesz@szmer.info 3 points 6 days ago

Will you post the ones from Ukraine as well?

[-] IAmNorRealTakeYourMeds@lemmy.world 23 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago)

in your funeral, instead of your loved ones reading your eulogy, they should bring up that other people died too and focus on them instead.

[-] harcesz@szmer.info 3 points 6 days ago

If I was suporting one imperialist invasion and prettending the other one is not there that would be fair. OP spent last few years denying whats going on in Ukraine.

[-] mathemachristian@lemmy.ml 15 points 6 days ago

europissants when people talk about someone else:

with as few words as possible, how can I make this about me

[-] harcesz@szmer.info 3 points 6 days ago

Im comfortable in my warm bed. A neighbouring country is being bombed by an empire the OP is shilling for and deing war crimes commited. Your moral high ground has been noted tho.

[-] mathemachristian@lemmy.ml 12 points 6 days ago

I am afraid you have committed two logical fallacies. A whataboutism and an ad hominem. I am therefore declaring myself victorious in this debate and taking the last word.

I leave you with this final thought: Have you considered that two things might be bad at once? Think about it.

[-] harcesz@szmer.info 2 points 6 days ago

Oh i did. You just forced yourself onto someone pointing out exactpy that to the OP. Have a nice day.

[-] mathemachristian@lemmy.ml 4 points 5 days ago

Well two wrongs don't make a right. Food for thought.

[-] RiverRock@lemmy.ml 9 points 6 days ago

Ooh, ooh, I know the thing you're supposed to say here!

Ahem:

Whataboutism

[-] Pman@lemmy.org 1 points 5 days ago

Are you asking about the Ukranians civilians killed by Russia or something else?

[-] harcesz@szmer.info 2 points 5 days ago

Ukrainian, or really all, civilians killed in the conflict instigated by Russia.

[-] RiverRock@lemmy.ml 5 points 5 days ago

instigated by Russia

Know how I know you weren't paying attention?

[-] harcesz@szmer.info 1 points 5 days ago

Oh, you got any arguments not used by USA to justify Iran, Irak, Venezuela and soon Kuba invasions? Im really fascinated by how you belive this is any different.

[-] RiverRock@lemmy.ml 3 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

Lol covering your ass ahead of time because you presumably know about the 8 years of ethnic cleansing by us-backed nazis, but think that you can both-sides it if you pretend that documented reality is the same thing as whole cloth propaganda. Truth is the difference. The US lies about bad things happening to justify aggression against a rival, and the US also does bad things and lies about them not happening to justify aggression against a rival. The common denominator here is American imperial lies, and the fools who keep swallowing them.

Here's a CNN segment from 2015, before mentioning the slaughter of eastern ukranians by their own junta government became politically inconvenient for the west:

https://youtu.be/sK_5KthQTHk

A choice quote since I know your ass isn't going to watch it:

We are Ukranian, but they kill us. So we probably need our own country. Because these people in Kiev, they are not brothers to us.

[-] fxdave@lemmy.ml 1 points 6 days ago

That would be equally bad.

[-] harcesz@szmer.info 3 points 6 days ago

[-] fiat_lux@lemmy.world 38 points 1 week ago

The bottom half is a cropped section of the top, which unfortunately detracts from the very real tragedy of the far too many people pictured.

[-] deacon@lemmy.world 12 points 1 week ago

If anyone has seen a higher res version of this I would appreciate it.

So much innocence is lost unnecessarily, first the brutal crackdown mowing down Iranians during the January Riots and now this.

Now make a list of those slaughtered, murdered, raped, molested, disfiguered, invalidated, by the regime... Ibwont hold my breath.

[-] iSeth@lemmy.ml 11 points 6 days ago

By regime, I thought you meant America... But nobody can hold thier breath that long

[-] yogthos@lemmy.ml 17 points 1 week ago

[-] mathemachristian@lemmy.ml 16 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Least depraved yankee. Your countries existence makes me question gods. Why does your kind have the compulsive need to justify school shootings

[-] ArkimedesWasRight@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

I realIze that anything I can say here that isn't silply "hate the US" is likely to fall on deaf ears, or be wildly misinterpreted. Attacks on my person and assumptions on who I am, really? You know nothing about me, and so far none of the comments has been remotely close to reality.

I don't condone the killing of inocent.

I am from Iran. I grew up there. I still have family there. When I became a parent. I took my family and left for Europe. So that my child would not have to suffer under a terrorist dictatorship.

My people, the people of Iran, is celebrating. Not because we are happy about war and death. But because thrte is finally hope for a life.

We have a saying that goes something like this. "When the tears run out, you sing!"

[-] 3abas@lemmy.world 14 points 6 days ago

Your response to a picture of children the US slaughtered was basically "I don't care, they deserved it"

[-] hamid@crazypeople.online 21 points 1 week ago

You are simply in denial and you are supporting a huge disaster because you are purposefully blind. Why is it that we were able to raise up and overthrow the corrupt and terrorist regime of the Shah and SAVAK on our own but now we are so helpless we require to be bombed, our families to be killed and our cultural sites to be destroyed to deal with the mullahs? How can you celebrate an evil, external occupying force that will do no good based on all the other examples of their interventions? Are you simply ignorant of the true motivations of the Americans or are you just lying to yourself? Are the people in Iraq better off? Afghanistan? East Timor? Guatemala? Haiti?

An egg that is opened from the inside is a bird to take flight, an egg opened from the outside is about to be cooked.

[-] cone_zombie@lemmy.ml 14 points 1 week ago

It's an expat thing. People moving from their country usually have more negative connotations about it and are more likely fo justify their choice by joining the negative propaganda. I've seen people moving to my country praise things that they thought were great and different from their previous experience, but having lived here all my life I know it's not that simple. So, don't believe everything an expat is telling you, that's what I mean

[-] hamid@crazypeople.online 12 points 6 days ago

Yeah, I know I'm Persian and half my family that lives in the US are Teh-rumpers

[-] mathemachristian@lemmy.ml 11 points 1 week ago

You're willing to distract from the terror attacks on your own country by repeating the terrorists lies and slander. This is beyond depraved. Trying to relativize the death of an entire school of children is sickening and you should be ashamed.

Here is what your countrypeople think of you https://lemmy.ml/post/44100896

[-] yogthos@lemmy.ml 10 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Show us a single example of when a US intervention made life better for people. What Americans want is to destroy Iran, and they're not even hiding it https://youtu.be/ogt9g-rTa3o?t=376

If you want Iran to be turned into another Libya or Syria then you're just piece of human garbage. Scum like you enables every western atrocity.
