Americans are such a passive people. Their state can commit the worst atrocities, no peep from them. If this was any EU country, heads would be flying.
EDIT: After writing this, I thought and I disagree with my own statement. People suck. All people, generally. Some are a bit more passive than others, but generally, humanity sucks, people suck. We value comfort way too much and are not up to give up 0.1% of it, even in the face of atrocities. Principled people are very rare.

Sounds like an overstatement of the European civilian response. A majority of Westerners have generally supported colonial settler activities for the past 500 years.

It's an expat thing. People moving from their country usually have more negative connotations about it and are more likely fo justify their choice by joining the negative propaganda. I've seen people moving to my country praise things that they thought were great and different from their previous experience, but having lived here all my life I know it's not that simple.
