The attack on Iran was “clearly a violation of the ban on the use of force under the UN charter and international law, which is the linchpin of the international order since 1945,” he told Guardian Australia on Sunday.

“Domestic criminal acts like the IRGC’s interference here, of course, are not armed attacks which would somehow justify military self-defence against Iran.

“You may not like Iran, you may not like what it does, but that doesn’t justify an aggressive armed attack on Iran.”

I am thoroughly embarrassed that Australia has supported this illegal war

It's embarrassing, but sadly not surprising. Australia is a vassal state of the US :(

The chain of command is Israel > U.S.A. > U.K. > Australia

You left out the global elites.

[-] SaneMartigan@aussie.zone 7 points 5 months ago

Can we find a word other than "elite"? I really don't feel they're elite, privileged billionaires, money dictators, Epstein class, rich evil cunts, I'm not sure just not elite.

To my ear the word "elite" in this context always has a built in ironic connotation, but I certainly do agree that there is nothing elite about them.

This unilateral ego building exercise was blatantly unconstitutional.

I don’t have a problem with Australia supporting the US attack, Iran is run by an oppressive regime that kills their own people. Albo’s rhetoric of supporting the attack because Iran can’t have nuclear weapon’s is a tired excuse that is only less of a joke than if he said they had WMD’s.

~~Iran~~ The USA is run by an oppressive regime that kills their own people… can you spot the difference?

Thank Jebus those 100 school girls were saved by Israel and Murica

Agreed, and I didn’t know about the school bombing when I posted my comment.

Iran is run by an oppressive regime that kills their own people.

That would be greatly improved by bombing them on behalf of Israel, right?

[-] mrdown@lemmy.world 5 points 5 months ago

How can you say that after the usa or israel murdered 148 people in an elementary school

[-] Psiczar@aussie.zone 1 points 5 months ago

Fair call, at the time I didn’t realise that had occurred. I thought they were taking out military targets, not carpet bombing cities. The people can’t rise up and overwhelm their oppressors if they’re dead.

Perhaps our govt and others have stopped believing and holding to the rules-based order a long time ago. Give lip-service, yes. Do what is right by international and humanitarian law, no.
