I never understood why in the US (North America? Europe?) children do this experiment with potatoes. Use a citric fruit instead, much better at moving ions around.

I think it’s because every American thinks they’re Irish

[-] cattywampas@lemmy.world 6 points 3 months ago

But potatoes are from the Americas

[-] Viking_Hippie@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 3 months ago

If you go back far enough, it's all Pangaea 🤷

[-] village604@adultswim.fan 4 points 3 months ago

Probably because potatoes are less messy than citrus fruits. No teacher wants to deal with an even stickier classroom.

[-] hperrin@lemmy.ca 9 points 3 months ago

Yeah, I could probably do it.

300 million what, though?

Fuck yeah, dude. I can never have enough gravel.

[-] hperrin@lemmy.ca 3 points 3 months ago

Ok, then yeah, I’d like to try. Do you need my credit card, or do you take Venmo?

[-] bstix@feddit.dk 5 points 3 months ago

It's lice. You get 300 million lice.

Now, can you build the potato clocked, huh?

[-] hperrin@lemmy.ca 3 points 3 months ago

Damn. One day it’ll be something good. Ok, just add it to the lice pile over there.

Potatoes for the potato clocks you build after the three days

[-] hperrin@lemmy.ca 2 points 3 months ago

Wow, that’s like way more than $10 worth of potatoes.

Slightly off topic, but I’m curious if anyone here knows how to overclock a potato.

[-] hperrin@lemmy.ca 5 points 3 months ago

It depends on whether the BIOS is unlocked.

Yes, but first you must overcome the friction from the starches by adding butter.

[-] ultrahamster64@lemmy.world 8 points 3 months ago

NOOOOOOOOOO

[-] grapefruittrouble@lemmy.zip 7 points 3 months ago

what am i going to do with 300million potatoes if i can’t build clocks for 3 days?

[-] wuffah@lemmy.world 5 points 3 months ago

What’s the money even worth without my tater time? :(

[-] hungryphrog 2 points 2 months ago

Well, when you're a multimillionare, you can have a lot more tater time!

[-] MilitantAtheist@lemmy.world 4 points 3 months ago

3 days?! Nah fam, I'm out.

[-] CaptainCapy@piefed.social 4 points 3 months ago

Ain’t worth it. I need potato clocks too badly.

[-] Viking_Hippie@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

Depends: 300 million what?

If it's dollars? Sure!

If it's feral hogs, I guess I better learn how and get to building ASAP!

Edit: Oh wait, re-read it! It seems I get the 300 million feral hogs in advance?

Yeah, I DEFINITELY won't be able to construct anything while some lunatic desperately attempts to cram hundreds of millions of deadly swine into my 3rd floor apartment 😬

[-] Tigeroovy@lemmy.ca 4 points 3 months ago

It’ll be hard but I think I could do it.

[-] SatansMaggotyCumFart@piefed.world 2 points 3 months ago

Can I still use it to power AI?

[-] timestatic@feddit.org 1 points 3 months ago

Yeah no, I'm not passing up on my integrity just to get 300 mio. Unbelievable
