TBF you're just AI training material to them.
Not very diverse (read "useful") training material if they ban everybody expressing a POV that the asshole troll mods don't like.
Training material doesn't need to be diverse when the AI models are intended to promote very specific ideologies. It's probably better to limit the sample size to "approved" discourse in those circumstances.
This was the best thing that ever happened to you. Don’t look back.
I will always love the fact that the comment that finally got me permabanned was for telling a MAGA knuckledragger that he wasn’t just licking boots, he was deep throating them. Meanwhile, r/conservative, an actual fucking Russian psyop operation, is allowed to continue to exist. Reddit in a nutshell, especially after Trump was reelected.
My 13 year old account with 250,000 comment karma was instant permabanned for saying "it's ok to punch a nazi".
That's when I stopped caring about Reddit and just kept creating new accounts to say whatever the fuck I wanted.
Good fucking riddance to Reddit. You might have been the last real person (not bot/AI) commenting on anything over there.
Why would you have a "work account" for Reddit?
OSHA compliance with nsfw materials.
This happened to me. Best thing that could have happened. Welcome to Lemmy.
The flaws here are minor;
- Skip around the computer talk and try to avoid Linux discussions.
- Avoid/block anyone that uses the word "Zionist" ... they are weird and will just escalate into name calling.
- Dont ask what a "Tankie" is, try and avoid them (same as 2).
It's actually quite a horrible feeling, initially. I was there from near the beginning, through the glory days to the enshitification. Got banned from a sub by an overzealous mod on AskUK. Then perma-banned for 'ban-evasion', simply for using another "throwaway" account, which was common practice for years.
Now I'm on Lemmy I'm never going back, even if I could (which is harder than you might think).
Yes, this place is way smaller, but I've met almost no dickheads or bots in the year or so I've been here. It's nice. I had a gander at Reddit the other day and it reinforced my affection for this platform and utter disdain for Reddit in general. They've absolutely wrecked it.

Guy gets his 19yo account perma'd
-
Tons of Wordword#### accounts with hidden post/comment history flooding reddit and render common subs unusable
Reddit: Fuck you and your two accounts, man. We hate multi-account users here.
Count your self lucky the local authorities haven't come to your door to question you about such a comment...
"Anyone managed to get around this?"

Fuck Reddit and Fuck Spez.
The lesson is we need platforms like lemmy. Don't ever support any corporate platforms they may seem nice now but it always ends badly.
Same here. 2 weeks ago out of nowhere I got perma banned after 10 years because of an ICE comment. I said since they didn't get paid, nor will get their sign on bonus, that in 3 years they will be back sucking immigrant cock behind a Wendy's for money. Apparently that is inciting violence. Suck a cock until you choke spez. Anyway it's better here except missing some niche subs that don't exist here.
Anyone managed to get around this?
Didn't even try. It was the impetus I needed to finally leave reddit. I'd also been on there for a long time, and i was putting in an hour or so each day. It wasn't really doing me any good, and when I adjusted I felt better to be away from it. Lemmy scratches the itch but is small enough that it doesn't consume much time. I do more reading and gaming now when I'm free. Years spent on reddit and big karma numbers are a sunk cost that makes it hard to leave.
How to get around this:
Why the fuck are you on an enemy's weapons system? Yes, you will have to make peace with permanently being excluded from what is essentialy 1/3 of the internet, but they are REALLY evil. It's like an abussive partner leaving you.
Good riddance.
Huh. I've never got pinched for ban-evasion before despite very regularly using alts to comment in subs where I had previously been banned. I don't honor perma-bans on principle because I think they're ridiculous, but I do self-impose a 30-day ban to let things cool down a bit and avoid attracting suspicion.
Not sure what my secret sauce was, but it was never an issue for me over the 15 or so years I used Reddit.
That said, I'd take this as an opportunity to just stop using Reddit altogether.
Reddit has become a corporate protector of the Epstein Pedophiles. Say too much negative about them and they ban permanently. I know that's not why you were banned, but the mods there have gotten really annoying with permanent bans for thin reasons. Erase Reddit. Join Lemmy and enjoy freedom.
Before you delete your 20 year old reddit account, take the time to carefully delete everything on that account -posts, comments, chats, everything- they are relying on you leaving that data so they feed their AI with it after you are gone. Simply deleting your account is not enough
Won't work. They have backups of everything you have ever done on there. They will just restore the backups and then ban you so you can't do that again. It's the bargain you made when you created an account with them.
I still use my banned account. I can sub/unsub, save posts and RES still works in my browser. I just can't comment, message or report people. Given I was mostly a helpful user with people's questions, it's really their loss.
Why do you want to get around it? Reddit is last decade. Time to move on.
I got permabanned for encouraging political violence: suggesting people draw pentagrams in chalk on a public street. As a joke, not like "show up at this time so we can do this."
They are eroding the definition of "political violence" and they know it, they don't care. Thought is political violence now.
Redefining political violence has been a tactic of authoritarianism for many decades. It starts with only ever pointing out one kind of political violence (ie, the right does violence, the left does violence in response, only the left's violence is covered). Then comes treating lesser violence from one side as a greater form of violence (ie, the right is using grenades, the left is using boxing gloves). Finally comes what you experienced, the elimination of freedom of expression on the grounds that speech leads to violence, even if what you're calling for is just a slightly weird form of propaganda to invoke thought rather than any kind of violence.
I say all this in the hopes that someone on a different part of the scale somewhere can recognize the signs early enough to do something
Anyone managed to get around this?
Considering how some people run hundreds of bots it must be possible.
Yup, banned after 17 years here for speaking out against ICE. Guess Reddit is just taking a turn right into the shitter now.
No, I just stopped using it a couple of years ago when we learned about the AI bullshit. 251k+ Karma account.
Reddit sucks now & it's simply not worth supporting with my time or energy.
You can't get around the bans. They move heaven and earth to fingerprint you.
Don't worry about it. Many of us are in the same boat. I actually think reddit doesn't want human users anymore. They want to be a bot-only outfit.
Yea, I lost my 15 year old account last year. Started a new one and it just wasn't the same. Left a few months ago for here, still not the same, but better then reddit.
I was a mod on r/trashy when some dick face mod on r/pics managed to get me perma banned after 15 years.
It’s not worth going back to. Welcome to Lemmy.
Reddit really needs a great alternative. Lets see how Lemmy does in this regard.
12 years for me. Tons of Karma, made it to top page once. I made a stupid joke on Roast me, and someone considered it Hate speech. Tried to create other profiles, all are permanently banned now. Appeals are denied. Glad I found this site. I hope it scratches the itch.
i can't remember what i got banned for, but my memory has it as "posted Luigis in defiance of Luigis ban" and that sounds like me.
I met Steve, Alexis, and Aaron when the site was housed in Steve's Somerville apartment. They used to throw meetups in Davis Square. This was in 2007-08, before the Digg migration.
Reddit is nothing like it was then, nor are the founders recognizable compared to what I saw all those years ago. I'm not banned, but then I rarely go there any more. Lemmy isn't very good, but Reddit is a dumpster fire.
18 years. Banned a year ago. No recourse, appeal immediately denied. Used the word “tRump”
Every account I had got perma banned and wiped from Reddit because I was on a temp ban on one of my accounts. I was on one of my other accounts that was older than the one I was temp banned from. Apparently I commented in a sub I had literally zero regocnition I was banned from probably years earlier on the newer account, just showed up on my feed on the other account.
I now cannot even make an account for longer than a few hours before it's scrubbed. I don't have to join a sub, like a post, or make a comment. I'll just make an account, wait a few hours, and get a notification that it's been permabanned.
