It's sort of crazy that the U.S. had intelligence on where El Mencho would be that deep into Mexico, but the Mexican government was unaware. Jalisco isn't just across the border, it's deep in Mexico.

The operation was carried out by Mexico. US supplied intelligence, assumed location information. Characterizing this as the US murdering someone outside it's borders is disingenuous and really just a false statement.

Looks like an arrest gone wrong

Four cartel members were killed at the scene, while another three died while being flown to Mexico City, among them El Mencho.

I've seen discussion about whether political pressure was the cause of how they went about it
