At this point we are probably ready for a small influx of early adopter users, perhaps those that showed interest in the thread a week back. I still need to create a pinned post, but with the detailed group description it is perhaps not a necessity. I also think it would be good to start posting some actual content. I know @dana@blahaj.zone and I have discussed creating a petition for a strong NATO deterent to Russia blowing up the Zaporizhzhia (or any other) nuclear power plant, or the use of any nuclear weapons, including tactical.
I am struggling to find who at NATO would receive such petition. I wrote an email to Public Diplomacy Division asking for guidance. Hopefully, they respond and point me in the right direction.

@toni@lemmy.blahaj.zone Here are simple avatar and banner. I combined public domain images to make these.

@dana @toni@lemmy.blahaj.zone Okay, your attachments don't show up in Lemmy, just the links to the original uncombined source images. And in Calckey they appear to have been converted into webm format, which is useless. I managed to take screenshots of them and upload those, so I can check this off as done for now. If I trimmed the screenshots incorrectly we can always fix that later by re-uploading.
Lots of great suggestions from @dana@blahaj.zone so far. Probably enough to tick off all the boxes above, which doesn't mean we can't add more later.
On another note, I noticed that the bug where you can't reply in lemmy and it just spins only happens when you are replying to a comment left in Calckey(and maybe also Mastodon). Not sure why, but I will report it.
Hey @dana, this is the first post for the group. The url for the group is https://lemmy.blahaj.zone/c/stop_russia
I think we need to get this set up before sharing more widely.
@toni@blahaj.zone @dana @toni@lemmy.blahaj.zone Hello
I may have some suggestions for podcasts, media, resources - will try to put something useful together today. Started writing but realised I could go on for ages and not sure how much / what structure you're after. Seems like there are a lot of good resources, not sure how many you want, or how much can fit in description box?
One other minor thing: there's a small typo of aggression in the final paragraph of description.
@picard@mas.to @dana@blahaj.zone @toni@lemmy.blahaj.zone I think the description boxes I've seen in some other communities are quite long and detailed. We can keep the description to highlights and put the rest in a pinned post thread though, so fire away!
@toni@blahaj.zone @dana @toni@lemmy.blahaj.zone Hmm. I tried to reply with a list directly on the post Lemmy but it won't post for some reason, just keeps spinning. Will try again later!
@picard@mas.to @dana@blahaj.zone @toni@lemmy.blahaj.zone I had that problem on the Lemmy site too. Is why I replied here instead. I should probably report it as a bug to @ada or @supakaity but I suspect they already know.
@toni@blahaj.zone @toni@lemmy.blahaj.zone OK I have a few will split into some separate posts.
@dana already covered some so will leave them off mine.

@toni@blahaj.zone @toni@lemmy.blahaj.zone @dana Directly supporting Ukrainians: https://shop.brave.ua is a marketplace operated in partnership with the Ukrainian government; Ukrainians provide products for sale internationally. I've used it many times and can vouch for it. Products range from clothes (got a fantastic winter coat from them), books, paintings, jigsaws, honey, etc. Delivery cost is per seller, not per order, so that's worth bearing in mind - buying from multiple sellers will incur multiple delivery charges.
Test to see if I can reply with Lemmy account now...
Stop Russian Colonialist Aggression
This group is current mainly focused on raising awareness and calls to action for helping Ukraine in its war against Russia's colonialist aggression. To this end we also encourage as secondary focus:
- Sharing Ukrainian Culture
- Exposing Russian Compromised Companies/Media/Politicians and Narratives
- Exposing the history of Russian Imperialism, under the current regime, under the USSR and under the Tsars.
- Raising awareness of other countries suffering from Russia's Colonialist Agression (Chechnya, Syria, Georgia, Belarus, etc).
