People familiar with the episode said the use of the technology was not coordinated with the Federal Aviation Administration. Officials targeted what they thought was a drug cartel drone, but turned out to be a party balloon, they said.

I love that the FAAs response was "we're shutting this whole thing down until someone tells you to stop fucking up". Of course the Whitehouse had to come in and provide cover for them.

Also, this would end careers in any other administration, how the hell did we get here. Why does no one in congress care?

Sheer momentum. You think the people at the top are bad? Remember how many low-/mid-level employees they shitcanned? Most haven't and won't be replaced. Even if a position is refilled, the lost institutional knowledge will take decades to rebuild.

Also the same day el paso denied an ice concentration camp from opening there... Couldn't have been a threat. And someone called the bluff. No. Absolutely the air force mis - id'd a Mylar balloon. Wait how close is this to Roswell???? Interesting..... Lol.
