You read the title right.

I am applying tretinoin on my face every night so naturally it tends to become very dry. Without putting a moisturiser my skin will break.

The problem is, I naturally have a very very oily skin. And what happens is after the shower the skin is super dry, I put moisturiser, and then some hours pass and my natural oil comes through and my face starts to look disgusting, super shiny and greasy. This is a problem specially now that summer is upon us and sweat is added to the mixture (I live in Europe).

I'm currently using CeraVe products to moisturise my face, and I realize that maybe this is not the right call for my face. Do you guys know a good and cheap alternative I can use and that I'm able to get in Portugal?

Kind regards

I have the same issue. I use silicon based moisturizers like Peter Tomas Roth's Water Drench. I don't know about availability in Portugal .. I'd go to a beauty supply and ask if they know of any.

l have oily dehydrated skin and it's not the cheapest option but I swear by LaRochePosay's Toleriane Fluide. I'm in Spain so pretty sure you can get it in Portugal. It is so light and gentle on the skin. Good luck on your tret journey!

Have you tried from La roche is a great option. cicaplast

I tried this because I’d heard so much about it but I found that it was too thick and creamy, and that it left a temporary white cast.

I broke my skin barrier recently and was using this —would have to reapply to parts of my face while at work and I looked strange having a white cast around random parts of my face :/

Yeah I wouldn't use this during the day. It's more something you would put on before going to bed after using an actual moisturiser to lock it in.

Can I ask what products from CeraVe you are using? Would be helpful to know when recommending something else.

It's the AM/PM cream (52ml), the one without SPF

Ok! That product is actually pretty light and shouldn't CAUSE a shiny look from my experience. Do you experience that you become more oily/shiny with a moisturizer than without?

Have you checked out Eucerin's "Oil Control" line of products? I have tried the SPF and it keeps my skin very matte, although my skin isn't very oily to begin with so it's difficult to say how well it would work for you.

I have another question if you don't mind. Could you list your entire routine? Maybe add it to your original post so others can see it more easily as well.

I feel you, I was using Aklief before and now I am on accutane. Tbh I can not give you concrete tips since my skin is just always dry now, but you mentioned cheap and Portugal. I was in Spain recently and I found some amazing cheap products at Druni from the brand Revuele. I think basically their spiel is copying famous expensive products but make it super cheap (3€ etc). I really enjoyed some of their serums and sunscreen. But make sure to check the ingredients on the Paula’s choice ingredient checker! Regarding which moisturizer I am using currently: the bepanthen nourishing facial cream.
