The Democrats are giving Trump and his lickspittle Hegseth the money to keeping being able to throw their military dicks around.

The so-called opposition Democrats are just handing the trumpists the means to make threats towards Greenland and Denmark, to make interventions in Latin America, to fund genocide in Palestine.

If you're a US citizen, do your fucking duty to the rest of us, call these Democrats and give them shit for arming the mad king: https://clerk.house.gov/Votes/202645

I'd rather not talk to them & just vote them out - they've already shown who they are, and I believe them.

[-] NoneOfUrBusiness@fedia.io 14 points 1 month ago

They're not going to let you vote them out. That ship has already sailed.

I think it's prudent not to assume it's impossible until it is. When they leave absolutely no room for doubt that's the way it's going to be, then there will be far less hesitation when it comes to opposing them. Let them force us to unite against them. As it stands, there are still too many afraid of going outside the status quo so they need to be given little choice.

Sure, but in return they'll be far more powerful, and the math here is overwhelmingly in their favor. Both authoritarianism and resistance require time and preparation, so there's no time to waste on electoral politics when it's already known that it won't work. Any resistance movement that tries to establish itself after the authoritarian takeover will simply be crushed; the time to stop the Nazis was before the Enabling Act, not after.

The two options are not mutually exclusive. We can prepare for battle, but wait for them to throw down the gauntlet first.

Bless your heart. You still think the US is a democracy.

[-] SanctimoniousApe@lemmings.world 3 points 1 month ago

Not really, no - it never was. But many "centrists" still do, and we need their support so proving the truth we see to them is necessary.

most of them are likely in safe seats, or they are retiring.

Remember that they REALLY are UPSET at ICE Murdering Civilians and to PLEASE Donate!

[-] kreskin@lemmy.world 1 points 4 weeks ago

Theres also a recurring donation option. Sort of a tithe to the Dem leaders who are working hard so hard on things the voters want, like ensuring aid continues to flow to Israel, making sure ICE stays funded, and fighting against the billionaire tax.

I've recently learned that a good chunk of Democratic donation solicitations are more or less just a scam. That and seeing Democrats firmly believing that letting Trump fuck everything up is the easiest way to ensure they'll people's votes...

“So the question is, how should Democratic politicians respond to this? And what I think they should do is what we call in rural America, play possum. Just let it go. Don’t get in the way of it. Or as we like to say, don’t just stand there, do nothing. Let this germinate… We don’t need to get in front of it. This freight train is moving. Let’s just get out of the way and then we’re gonna have time.”

-James Carville, Feb 2025

... just pushes me farther into doomer territory. We can't have nice things. People will find ways to extract the maximum amount of personal gain, with minimal effort, from anything. They don't care what it might cost society.

Find any good cause these days and you'll find a swarm of catchy slogans and effective marketing used to convince you that spending your money with them will further that good cause and help save the world. In reality, many of those campaigns are pretty paint hiding outright lies or half truths. It ends up being more just people looking to skim off some cash by finding a place for themselves between people who want to do good and the good they want to do.

I feel like the next step of the orphan crushing machine metaphor is finding out that the reason we have an orphan crushing machine is because the collecting-donations-to-save-orphans-from-the-orphan-crushing-machine industry is extremely lucrative and has a massive lobby.

To everyone who mocked anyone for pointing out how the parties were similar: WE. TOLD. YOU. SO.

[-] ubersolver@lemmy.world 14 points 1 month ago

They obviously don't get it yet considering you barely have any upvotes and the top comment here is thinking we can fix the problem by calling our representatives and giving them a piece of our mind.

[-] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

They obviously don’t get it yet

Oh, they get it. They love how similar the parties are.

[-] Formfiller@lemmy.world 12 points 1 month ago

Israel is going to get a lot of that money. I guarantee it. Are we ready to admit that the democrats are not on the side of the people yet?

[-] SeductiveTortoise@piefed.social 10 points 1 month ago

This system needs a purge badly.

[-] melsaskca@lemmy.ca 10 points 1 month ago

The assumption then is that at least 149 democrats are in the Epstein files and they hold their allegiance to trump and maga. Occam's razor and all that.

[-] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 4 points 1 month ago

they are paid by the same billionaires funding the gop. the senate is more problematic, schumer had 8 sacrificial dems to side with the gop, but he is actually shielding the 13 i believe that are up for re-election this year.

[-] WanderWisley@lemmy.world 8 points 1 month ago

Remember there names when they beg for your vote, if they are not helping to fix this problem then they need to step the fuck aside.

[-] reminiscensdeus@eviltoast.org 7 points 1 month ago

Anyone know an easy way to find which house members voted for this?

Funding the military at 10 times the appropriate amount has to stop. We could have payed off the national debt with the military's Budget the last 20 years.

[-] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 4 points 1 month ago

funnything is military members get low-cost subsidized housing loans and Healthinsurance, that is low cost. they know they can fund it, but wont because they lose thier political wedge issues used to sow division.

[-] desmosthenes@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago

the power of the lobby..

[-] MarkWandering@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 month ago

Americans need to bin anyone in the Dems who is not trying daily to grind this facist regime to a halt.

[-] kreskin@lemmy.world 1 points 4 weeks ago

Smell that bipartisanship. A big win for the dems "problem solvers" caucus. I wonder what problems they solved? Seems like they just created more problems by letting right wingers have their way, same as every other Teusday. And they wonder why democratic party enrollment is at an all time low.
