I will compliment the article’s author for using direct quotes from Trump.
Too often, the press tend to clean up his grammar so it makes sense and doesn’t seem so offensive to the literate.
Direct quotes like “watch his ass” and “got bum-rushed right so fast that he didn't get into that” help convey not only Trump’s sentiment, but how god-awful ignorant the fuckwit is.
I live in Europe, so I often read coverage in my own language, which means Trump’s quotes are translated. Translators could easily smooth out the grammar and make him sound coherent, but they don’t. They clearly put effort into preserving not just the meaning, but also the tone and sheer incoherence. You end up with these translations that capture the rambling, the aggression, and the stupidity, just in another language.
I appreciate that your news sources don't try to sugar coat his incoherent rambling.
I wish domestic American news sources would be so honest.
I remember that being a big debate among Japanese news outlets in 2016, whether or not to directly translate, or translate the meaning, comprehensively. Unfortunately many outlets fell on the "comprehensive" side of the argument

Really trying not to sound pro-Trump or whatever this move is, but the US military certainly does not need to be boots on the ground and deal with "guerilla attacks".
We've seen with Ukraine that drone warfare is highly effective and if the US wants to clear a supposed guerilla location they'll just carpet bomb it all.
And if they establish FOBs then a few drone operators(based in the US still btw) with infrared and some dudes in outposts with thermals will do just fine against any guerilla tactics.
We can compare this to Vietnam or whatever, but a lot has changed in 50 years and with Venezuela it's clear that South America is not ready for this type of aggression.
Again, not advocating for this and certainly this move against Venezuela is clearly illegal and warmongering, but saying this will collapse the "US empire" is beyond ignorant.

Unlike Vietnam, there are millions of people in the US that are either from or that have close family in Latin America. That's why they spent the last year trying to deport and terrorize migrants, why they want to go after naturalized citizens, why they talk about going after "home growns" after they've finished rounding up the migrants, etc etc. It's all laying the groundwork for this next stage.

Blue bubbles like Lemmy give the impression everyone is seething, but in reality average Joes (even those who don't vote) find this kind of authoritarianism warm and fuzzy, they equate their respect for the military with Trump by association. Here in Denmark, a climate activist was pushed down by a guard during our kings new years speech a few days ago. Most rational people agree that force was necessary (He didn't move after being called out), and I agree. But the man was violently pushed to the ground. When he returned to the crowd, someone punched him in the face.
This was not a climate activist blocking public infrastructure, or sabotaging a grid. He pretty much just stood there for a moment with a sign, telling the public "Pull the emergency brake, climate collapse" before he was violently pushed to the ground and punched.
I'm not going to argue whether these things are appropriate, right, wrong, or what amount of force was necessary. But I do want to point out the glee, the frothing of the mouth, the absolute intense schadenfreude of every right-of-center person sharing his picture on social media. Everyone was roaring in approval, not just celebrating violence, but in many cases encouraging more of it.
People absolutely love this stuff. It's intense tribalism, and it's getting worse. I don't remember it being like this 20 years ago.
Great idea to start riling up lots of countries that don't have to cross an ocean to fuck with you.
