Ate a bit too much and now stuck in a stupor. Have picked up groceries to cook for tonight and the one thing that snapped me out of feeling lobotomised was the outrageousness of paying $3 for one of those stupid little plastic trays of coriander - not even a whole bunch but a few measly leaves. I felt dirty paying for it because I had nowhere else to get any nearby. Coriander: definitely one of those things totally worth growing if you can.

No one realises this but either way dentists still win.

I have eaten well today. Half a plate of fries and 2 meat pies and now have a fresh brewed coffee.

Iโ€™m actually still pretty full at the moment.

All while watching the grand final.

Now that's finished who can't wait for the Big Bash to start ๐Ÿ–

Welp, my day is ruined and my disappointment is immeasurable.

I actually own a Collingwood scarf from back when I used to watch the game with my best mate and his family who were Collingwood diehards, it was more fun to follow with them. Especially when they won a grand final and we all got real REAL drunk and sang and cried and hugged. It was a good time. I haven't seen him or them for about 9 years. I should really get rid of the scarf because I feel nothing that they won just now.

I was given a very expensive type of Collingwood memorabilia and I gave it away knowing that person absolutely would love it and not sell it.

Help!?

What on earth do you get a 12 year old girl you don't know well for a birthday present? She isn't close to my son and he's totally clueless as to her likes and interests.

Edit: Thanks so much everyone, I went from having no idea what a girl gets for a birthday to debating options with my son. I was set to get her the beads, even had them in my hand and he was certain that she wouldn't like them - instead she'd like a basketball. Which is what we ended up getting. I'm saving this thread though, there are more 12 year old parties on the horizon. I need to investigate Typo. It sounds like it fills the hole left from growing out of Smiggle.

A small gift pack from the Body Shop? That seems to be a safe default

[-] underwatermagpies@aussie.zone 5 points 2 years ago

Beads. Every 12 year girl I know (quite a few) loves making bracelets etc out of beads. There are kits at Spotlight & similar places.

[-] Nath@aussie.zone 5 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

I like this idea. Nearest Spotlight is far, though. I don't really have that kind of time. I have Kmart and Target, I might try there.

AaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

I don't enjoy knowing hot weather is coming. I do not like the sweaty time of year.

[-] RustyRaven@aussie.zone 5 points 2 years ago

I'm not a fan of either summer or winter. I prefer to focus on enjoying the in-between times in autumn and spring and not dragging them down by focussing on weather I don't like.

Brilliant and bright out in Brisbane today, gonna go to GOMA, have a nice lunch, stroll around and try not to get burnt, then get the hell back before all the afl excitement shenanigans potentially start.

It's worth noting how brown the grass is and how much earlier the jacarandas have come out.

Glaze took 5-6 hours to process 4 small images on medium and just returned an error on my favourite one... Fuckkkk. But I can post the landscapes now (as late as it is). The picture of Melbcat can be posted tomorrow.

Keep in mind that while I did traditional art as a kid I've been art blocked for a long time. I'm also new to digital, this was done on a phone screen half the size of a hanky and also in the first few weeks of having the app. So I was and am still learning to use it. (If this post is still being weird - there are three pieces of art.)

Blue Mountain

This is the chronological first one. It's so intensely blue because it's meant to be at the 'blue hour' of dawn or dusk. I like the colours I randomly picked by eye but it's overall it's a bit dark to see well at smaller sizes. Opening it in a new tab helps.

Spring Morning Hill

I don't like these colours as much. I picked from a premade palette and the colours are a little samey. It's early morning and breezes are kicking up hayfevery pollen.

Desert Cactus

Same deal, premade palette. To be honest this was just done acting on a simple piece of advice for breaking art block. "Draw a cactus."

My glutes and calves are on fire from yesterday's hike.

Can barely make it to the fridge for beer refills

[-] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 5 points 2 years ago

I tried this drink

https://cbco.beer/products/hazy-new-england-pale-ale

And I have to say very nice. Nice beer with a hint of passionfruit. I may get a little sloshed.
