tbf buttermilk is pretty low fat. It's what's left over when you make butter. OOP's argument is still dumb though.
The original recipe was great and everything new or changed sucks. Big Brother removed buttermilk to stop you, a true #blessed American, from having what your forefathers had.
Just as an aside, I'm an old and food was fucking dogshit just about everywhere all the time until the recent explosion of amazing food across the board over the last 20 years or so. Everyone hid their crap food under megatons of fats.
