If you are unable to see the USAian influence in Europe, sorry mate, but you must be blind.

[-] rustyfish@piefed.world 6 points 2 months ago

I never said that.

But anything to sow division in the west I guess?

[-] atro_city@fedia.io 14 points 2 months ago

The USA isn't actually doing what they're saying

Yes they are!

I never said they weren't!

And having a unified Europe against the US isn't "division".

[-] umbrella@lemmy.ml 8 points 2 months ago

yes. that's how they control the narrative. we need to put forth our own interests instead of just echoing the next crazy nonsense coming from whatever fascist.

[-] starlinguk@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

How about Nato, will you take that seriously?

[-] mrdown@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

Everybody should leave nato and let the usa alone then create a new coalition

[-] njm1314@lemmy.world 21 points 2 months ago

I mean there's no way it succeeds for Austria and I really doubt it would happen for Italy either, but if Hungary wants to fuck off that's fine by me.

[-] ExLisper@lemmy.curiana.net 14 points 2 months ago

Hungary should have had their membership suspended like 3 years ago. It's insane they tolerate country openly supporting Russia for so long.

[-] lauha@lemmy.world 9 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

I hope Orban fucks the right off but I also hope Hungarian people don't have to suffer for their dictator's folly.

[-] TimeNaan@lemmy.world 19 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

Good luck with that. Nobody wants a Brexit of their own.

[-] atro_city@fedia.io 11 points 2 months ago

Sure, then why are they voting right-wingers into government?

[-] Garfield@feddit.uk 11 points 2 months ago

Politics is politics. Votes swing, some percentage of people also place protest votes. Some percentage of any population are stupid, some just want to see the world burn. All people are influenced by propaganda and their own biases, and some percentage try to fight that by being discerning and politically engaged. Most people are somewhere in-between, just trying to get on with their lives while ignoring the torrent of shit that the world throws at them.... which is also a tactic used to disengage people.

You are underestimating the power of influence of mass media and everything on our phones. These are ultra-processed,targeted, and persistent bits of info being fed into ppls brainholes.

It takes several years and several billions per country but I wouldn't put it past any EU country to not be susceptible to it.

It's foolish to think half of Britain voted Brexit without a cause, you would expect like up to 5% to want that.

It would be more prudent to whip up some regulation preventing such bs to be possible since we know it exists & works.

Correct, but long before Trump. Now it's just more explicit.

We have many idiots in Poland and a rather sizeable Kremlin funded far-right (mainly the konfederacja korony polskiej party) but there aren't nearly enough of them for an EU exit. By the way, UK has done a very good job in making it clear that leaving the EU is a very bad idea, thanks to the absolute shitshow Brexit has become.

[-] scratchee@feddit.uk 3 points 2 months ago

You’re all welcome, glad our object lesson in idiocy has been understood. Now that the point has been made, we can rejoin and pretend that never happened right? … Right?

[-] wildncrazyguy138@fedia.io 3 points 2 months ago

Yes, please let the US, a country 1000s of kilometers away, interfere with your union affairs. I mean, our Union over here is just going so damn peachy.

And then, after you break apart, give us your tired, your poor huddled mas … oh that’s right, we’re not doing that anymore. So feel free to FAFO once you do.
