I'm a big fan of how transparent they've been about mtga development over the past few months, from the dev writeups to the clear messaging when things go wrong.
It looks like they updated some form of SQL/Database servers and saw a huge increase in delayed writes, specifically for premier draft picks (oddly).
Last week, a sudden and unexpected database performance issue sprang up. Our services suffered from severe delays during database writes, where actions taken by players are recorded for future reference. Behind the scenes, engineers were scrambling to investigate and diagnose the issue. Most of the system continued to work as normal, with slightly noticeable wait times. However, the impact on Premier Draft was catastrophic.
They apparently did a big database update rollout going on since March but it must have really crapped out in production. I feel bad for these people, that is definitely a frustrating and anxiety inducing situation to be in.
This is nice to hear at least. Does anyone know what the actual issues are that are causing them problems? The game appears fine for me but I only play a few formats.
Edit - I didn't scroll down lol I see The How explained in the article now
