While I'd enjoy playing soccer myself, the competitive scene is completely bereft of soul; a front for gambling and advertising. It's despicable and unethical that professional soccer players earn as much as they do.
Don't forget massive corruption and slavery.
As a person who watches a fair bit of the sport, I absolutely agree.
They wouldn't make so much money if they didn't generate that much money. They're paid what they're worth, if not underpaid given their contribution to the total revenue of a club, IMO.
In the grand scheme of things, from an ethical point of view, they're worth nothing as they don't contribute anything of true value to societal change. In other words, pure entertainment, bread and circuses.

obviously many of these celebrity athletes are horrible people working the system for individual benefit, but idk, i feel these are people who need their chains cut too.

Fuck them there wages are stolen in the form of expensive tickets, food, alcohol and the propaganda that everyone's little gremlin has a chance to grow up and be a rich professional athlete. It's all a distraction and waste of time for the owner class. Note - I'm all for physical fitness but competitive sports is a drain on society.
I don't think it's fair to highlight that some pro athletes are horrible people as a mark against them being paid well as there are horrible people in every profession. Otherwise I agree with your first paragraph 100%. I will say that because they make enough to live extremely comfortably for the rest of their lives that it's difficult to argue that they should get more of the cut, even if it's revenue generated off of their work.
Oof I couldn't disagree more. By that thought, artists, musicians, and any other entertainers are worth nothing, and that's just wrong. Do you think that professional musicians shouldn't make lots of money as well? What about actors or the people that work in theater production? Is that whole industry worth nothing as well?

It's really amazing that no matter who you are if you're a sexual predator Donald Trump likes you. It's really unfathomable to me. Like there's things I like in life, things I can define myself as but it doesn't mean I like anybody who also likes those things. I can't imagine having one thing in common with someone being enough to make me like them no matter what. But Donald Trump sees another pedophile and/or rapist and his brain just goes "damn they're just like me I love them."
