I know it's annoying but I do know he has a professional boxing license in some states and has a offical ranking number in a couple global boxing associations. He has not faced anyone ranked in the top 1000 but sadly Jake did go through the proper channels to be legitimately called a professional boxer. (In most countries they don't let just anyone get punched in the head professionally for sport.) Let's just hope the fight with AJ actually happens and AJ actually fights for real. If that's the case AJ will end Jakes boxing career in the first round. Jakes never been punched by a top fighter for real. If AJ has any respect for the sport he'll have Jake questioning his life choices after the first exchange.
As the sub states - It is just mildly infuriating. But to reply to that - I don't want to get into a discussion about this, so I probably will just leave it here.
The States that governing bodies oversaw his fights are far more lenient than other places, CSAC, TDLR (Tyson fight his licence was expired and renewed in record time), OSAC and FSBC. Had he not the money and followers, most, or not one of his 'fights' would ever have gone ahead.
Other than the people whose jobs require it, I have never spoken to or heard a person that was involved in or heavily fanatical about boxing dare refer to him as a boxer. It is only the clueless 'casual' fans, his youtube followers, the marketers and the people that work for them. JFH exhibition bouts were called exactly that, and are not to be confused with his professional career. Jake Paul has only ever had exhibition fights afaik. There is so much more to look at and talk about, but money talks. I just feel extremely sorry for all of the pro boxers that will never get a fair ranking despite being able to (without question) run rings around him without having to train too hard for the fight.
He is a professional exhibitionist or a professional exhibition fighter at best.
I couldn't name one other single person who has fought most of their professional career against basketballers, UFC, retirees and other non professional boxers that are allowed to call themselves 'professional boxers'. It brings the already struggling sport into further disrepute. The fixing has now gone mainstream. The Netflix goons talking about the good it's doing for boxing when it is doing the opposite..
Okay, okay... I am starting to get a little more into this 'mildly infuriating' topic than planned. I will leave it there, with plenty more that could be said.
I agree with everything you said. I'm a hardcore boxing fan. But I'll be honest. I never got into boxing until butterbean was on jackass. So dumb. (Eric is more of a boxer than Jake could ever hope to be.) I'm just saying. Boxing has always had its clowns that bring attention to the sport while dishonoring the sport at the same time. And I don't like how corrupt boxing is, but also I think global boxing is the strongest is ever been on the political/organizational side since I've been a fan. I felt like we rearly got to see belt holders fight each other but recently I'm happy with the most belt holders and challengers rates of fighting. I wish Crawford fought over 1.5 times a year during his career tho.
how can we fix that?
It’s Wikipedia, anyone can edit it to revert the change. Be the change you wanna see in the world
Anyone can edit Wikipedia is a false belief. There are moderators who monitor popular posts from being edited. These moderators are usually from PR management companies who spend a lot of time editing pages to appear legit and also sell their services for a fee.
So, NO, anyone cannot edit it or even add factual data without the approval of a "moderator" who may be awfully biased at not letting bad comments about their clients publicized.
The founder himself is not hiding his bias. It's always been used as political and commercial PR by politicians and companies but with a cover of being an "Encyclopedia". Just like how many NGOs are fronts for government intelligence agencies.
If you want to prove me wrong, go ahead and give it a try and let's see how long that "edit" lasts.
Yep. Anyone can “edit” wikipedia.
But the vast majority of edits by new users are reverted within a day.
I say this as someone with thousands of wikipedia edits myself, I talk from experience.
Most of the pages (especially politicised ones), have a couple senior users with vested interests continually monitoring it and changing back anything they don’t agree with.
Holy shit. Didn't have that on my bingo card. Fuck me, wikipedia too?
That's the only non made up thing he ever attempted lol
1: why?
2: how can we fix this?
-
I guess a wikipedia volunteer decided to classify him as that, and maybe another agreed.
-
No idea. I guess it would entail trying to prove that he setup, paid and that the fights were mostly scripted.
He has only has 13 fights, hopefully the Joshua fight will finally show him up. 'win' or lose.
trying to prove that he setup, paid and that the fights were mostly scripted
There's nothing scripted about the fights. He just only fights people he knows he can handily beat because of his size and youth. I don't like Paul, but the whole "the fights are fixed" narrative is silly (and entirely devoid of evidence). He's a hack who only fights people who are ancient, retired, or not even fighters to begin with like basketball player Nate Robinson. He doesn't have to fix these fights; they're just that overwhelmingly booked in his favor.
Also, this entire topic gives him exactly what he wants: attention for his rage-baiting clout-chasing career.
Tyson was definitely fixed.
In what way? You mean the way Paul didn't completely massacre him in round 1 even though he could've? That's how exhibitions work. Paul was showing restraint because they wanted to put on a show. Tyson had zero chance of winning that fight so Paul carried him for a few rounds. That isn't a "fixed" fight. "Fixed" means the outcome was agreed upon before the fight, but that isn't what happened.
😅
You might've seen one too many movies if you think Tyson was going to win that fight. Vegas odds were Paul +249 to Tyson -190.
"I do not like Jake Paul and therefore Jake Paul could not have won the fight legitimately" isn't evidence that the fight was fixed. Paul was fighting a man 31 years his senior and several inches shorter. It's not rocket science. Everyone (including me) wanted Tyson to knock Paul out, but this isn't Hollywood.
You keep telling yourself that. Tyson barely threw a punch.
Kid yourself all you want, but don't try and contaminate the rest of the world with your nonsense.
Tyson reportedly interested in Turki Alalshikh's offer, never got a reply from Jake Paul.
Tyson barely threw a punch because he's ancient and knew Paul could counterpunch much faster than Tyson could react. Tyson knew he was fighting an uphill battle and chose to be very conservative with his approach. Which was a smart idea. He didn't want to get knocked out like Tyron Woodley did.
Do you actually follow combat sports at all, or do you only show up when a YouTuber is on the fight card? If the latter, I could understand why you might think the way you do. If you actually follow combat sports or have any understanding of how they work, it's obvious that the fight didn't need to be fixed. There's a reason 58-year-old boxers don't fight 27-year-old boxers. It's boring and one-sided.
Again, "I do not like Jake Paul" is not actual evidence that the fight was fixed. Please feel free to provide any actual evidence you might have supporting your position, though.
😅😅🤡
You're only saving grace is that you obviously don't know what you're talking about.
And yet you refuted no part of my argument and did nothing to lend credence to your own 🤔
The ignorant party here is you. But by all means continue laboring under the delusion that you understand boxing because you watched the highlights of one YouTuber fighting a geriatric in an exhibition.
What or why would I refute anything you say? It's obvious that you don't really understand boxing, it's level of corruption and how that exhibition was played out. You have already staggered with attempts to put words in my mouth/text twice that I didn't mention anything even close to. I have no interest in going any further with somebody showing and starting with those traits.
As I said, you continue thinking what you like, but don't contaminate other people's thoughts with your nonsense.
Professional boxing is corrupt in many, many ways. I never said otherwise.
That said, boxing being corrupt isn't the reason that Tyson lost to Paul. Tyson lost to Paul because Tyson was 58 years old. Again, not rocket science. This was an exhibition. The corruption you speak of is more prevalent in the actual professional circuit, not fights between youtubers and influencers.
And perhaps take your own advice about not "contaminating other people's thoughts" with your unsubstantiated nonsense. Tyson took the fight because the purse was enormous even if he lost, just like everyone who agrees to fight Paul. No one who actually watches boxing was surprised when Paul won.
Again. For the final time. You. Don't. Understand. What. You. Are. Talking. About.
That's a good thing. You can learn later on.
😅😅🤡
