Following this post yesterday, the errors encountered by other admins were sorted and we realized captchas were not enough of a reason to keep people from experince the best version of Lemmy.

We are now on v0.18 with registration applications turned on, this is a temporary requirement until captchas are added back. If you encounter any bugs with the new version please mention them in the comments.

(Clear your cache if the new version doesn't load for you, should work fine after that.)

This instance rocks. Cheers to the admins.

[-] inventa@lemmy.fmhy.ml 20 points 1 year ago

Thank you guys. Happier every day to having chosen this instance

Did you encounter any issues during the upgrade or did the docker compose handle everything smoothly?

[-] zinklog@lemmy.fmhy.ml 11 points 1 year ago

Nope. everything was smooth for us.

Not OP but just upgraded on my own instance and one issue is that you have to give the lemmy_ui and pictrs containers access to the internet instead of just the local network by adding lemmyexternalproxy to the networks in docker-compose.yml. I did use the Lemmy-Easy-Deploy script made by /u/ubergeek77@lemmy.ubergeek77.chat but it should be the same when using ansible considering I adapted instructions for ansible from the Lemmy github issue tracker ๐Ÿ˜‚ . If you don't do that you can't access the page and just see server_error on a blank page but works in an external client like jerboa.

Nice work guys! Appreciate the effort you put in running the instance, and the community-oriented way you do it.

[-] Sabakodgo@lemmy.fmhy.ml 7 points 1 year ago

Nice! Everything feels better. Didn't find any bugs yet.

Web version of the site doesn't work for me

[-] Martineski@lemmy.fmhy.ml 2 points 1 year ago

On the bottom of the site it tells me that the ui is on 0.17.4, maybe that's the cause

[-] zinklog@lemmy.fmhy.ml 4 points 1 year ago

Clear your browser cache, should work after that.

I had the exact issue you described but got fixed after clearing. Use a different browser or device to be sure.

[-] Martineski@lemmy.fmhy.ml 2 points 1 year ago

Turns out I had to give up global cache which sucks a bit. Ty for helping.

[-] Mirodir@lemmy.fmhy.ml 2 points 1 year ago

Same for me. Simply using Ctrl+F5 was enough to fix it for me on PC.

Is it just me or did they not only not make video embeds bigger but they removed them altogether? Kinda sucks to have to leave the platform to watch something. :/

Edit: at least they fixed the mod log I guess

[-] Martineski@lemmy.fmhy.ml 3 points 1 year ago

Alright, they did fix them but average user won't see them anyway

[-] Martineski@lemmy.fmhy.ml 7 points 1 year ago

Made an issue on github if anyone wants to help bring attention to the issue. https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy-ui/issues/1556

[-] Martineski@lemmy.fmhy.ml 4 points 1 year ago

Someone already fixed it https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy-ui/pull/1586.

I love open source. <3

Is being unable to change your email address part of the settings you're speaking of? I get "This server hasn't correctly set up email." when I try to change the email address in my profile settings.

[-] exododo@lemmy.fmhy.ml 3 points 1 year ago

Cool, thank you very much

[-] pushchair@lemmy.fmhy.ml 2 points 1 year ago

Nice! Thanks a lot :)

Blocking (and subscribing) communities seems to be occasionally broken?

[-] brahmsss@lemmy.fmhy.ml 1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

I have encountered the sub bug also but it seems like it's a Lemmy thing with beehaw mainly, at least for me

[-] brahmsss@lemmy.fmhy.ml 2 points 1 year ago

Great, the endlesswebsocketstream was too much
