After ten years on GitHub, general-purpose programming language/toolchain Zig has jumped ship, citing severe CI headaches caused by crumbling infrastructure as the major reason why.

The Zig Software Foundation hopes to see less violations of their strict "no slop" policy from this move as well.

Good news every time this happens.

Even better, this blog post is a great reference of the many reasons GitHub is shitty, becoming shittier, and everyone should abandon that platform.

I have a mild preference for Rust, but this definitely encourages me to take a second look at Zig

zig is C with approximately everything it should have had, imo. The only thing that kind of sucks is that it's not 1.0 yet and big breaking changes do happen. The most recent one was a complete overhaul of the writer interface in 0.15.1.
