Shared between the two; Homemade bread, butter, American cheese slices, backyard eggs.

Left: scrambled eggs with giardiniera Right: fried eggs with smoked sausage.

This was not the plan. The plan got messed up when the dogs barked two hours after I went to sleep. After the digs barked I heard peopld talking. The one thing I should never hear from inside my house is people outside talking. I bolted out of bed and looked out the window to see that our only neighboring house was on fire.

Things got busy after that and I didn't have time to make what I planned on. No one was home. The house was a complete loss.

Cost per person: less than $1

They weren't in town last night. They came by today to look it over.

Cost per Neighbor: more than six figures. Sorry to see this.

So the dogs barked for 2 hours and then there was a fire? Or did the dogs bark because they saw the fire? Hope the people have insurance and a good community to help them through this.

I had been asleep for just two hours. They barked once because of the people shouting outside. The people were trying to figure out if anyone was trapped inside. A few people have reached out for me to get their information to them. We didn't ask about insurance. That house was paid off long ago and I'm a bit worried to find out the answer.

Thanks for clarifying. Possibly an electrical fire.

Sounds like you're in a good neighborhood. Maybe someone will organize a fund for them. No one should lose their home.

Fuck.. I hate seeing this. My mom lost all her stuff to a fire decades ago,. including the cats. Totally feel for anyone that loses their home to a fire. Horrible.

OTOH, the brekkie sarnies look awesome.

The owner is an older person so odds are they will never rebuild. She probably planned on dying in that house like her husband did. I'm wondering how long these ruins will be here because this is the kind of town where they just leave burned out buildings for a decade or more.

This is a two acre corner lot on a block with more cows than people. Maybe a commercial buyer will get it and. Then I end up living next to a gas station as my only neighbor.
