Dumb, isn't the whole point of notepad that you see the text without any graphical interpretation of the source contents?

ok, I just checked. They are using markdown and they have the option to not show it as formatted. Considering this is a very common format (Im using it now to write this comment) and you can view it as plaintext, this is actually a useful feature.
I guess, but Windows already ships with more rich-text editors like Wordpad. When I'm using notepad it's because I want to see the pure raw unformatted text.
WordPad was removed by Windows 11 version 24H2.
So removing features to repackage them and brand as new?
Slightly more convenient i guess so that's a rare win for microsoft
They are making it into WordPad... It's called recycling ideas.
They will release Notepad Classic for only 9.95 per month.
Ah, so since MS discontinued Wordpad, they figured they'd turn Notepad into Wordpad. I see.
