As someone who watched the show religiously as a 9-year-old when it came out, the most interesting bit of trying to re-watch it a few years ago was finding out that Martin and Barbara were the parents of Juliet Landau (Drusilla on Buffy the Vampire Slayer).

Like you, I loved this show as a kid - and I think I'd be too afraid of ruining my own memories of it by attempting to watch it again now!

I learned that lesson when I tried to watch a Blake's 7 episode about ten years ago... 😬

Some things are best left to nostalgia.

I recently tried rewatching.

I enjoyed the first couple of episodes, but didn’t feel the need to binge through the rest. I do plan to keep working through it.

It definitely stands up reasonably well. I found I paid more attention to the visual language and production design which seems to be a profound influence on Star Trek’s new 32nd century’s production and costume design. Story and character wise, the popular new SyFy series The Ark owes quite a bit to Space 1999, and seems to have found a happy medium between the two seasons.
