New fixation (lemmy.world)
submitted 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) by Zepherion@lemmy.world to c/adhd@lemmy.world

I’m new to lemmy and I’m loving it, but I’m not sure if im liking it cause I so desperately need to work on a work project or cause it’s actually cool. It’s probably both, but this recent discovery have me scrolling at 02:34 am while I have a work meeting in the morning… I wanna die…

When reddit showed the first signs of something going abysmally wrong, part of my brain thought, 'hey nice, no more reddit might be the best thing to happen to us in a while!' And then I remembered Lemmy is a thing that exists.

I really really really love this community.

I’m 49 and was only officially diagnosed in December. It’s so relieving knowing that there are others experiencing the same challenges. After all these years I realised and understand that I’m not alone, and that my difficulties are real, and not imagined.

It still doesn’t help with some of my behaviours though.

Today was my youngest’s birthday. So instead of going to bed early to ensure I would be up early for him, I ended up trying to record sing until 3am. Even though I knew I’d be up at 6.30.

He had a great day, so I don’t mind being so tired.

Anyway, all that, is to say thank you to you all.
