It became a little tradition for me: Bloodborne. This game needs a remaster or rework so badly. (And Bloodborne II ;) )

I'm playing Silksong. Until I beat it, that will be the answer. I'm trying to take my time and explore.
Also, I couldn't give out candy this year. Unpaid furlough + the cost of moving to a new place strained my wallet.

I've played through to just after you free the town of Bellhart. But unpacking has been taking up a lot of my time recently and so I haven't got much further than that. So basically I'm still in act one and might be there for awhile. I'm still exploring the move sets of the crests I've collected and seeing what works for me (sometimes crests work better for different sections even though they aren't my favorites, so it takes some getting used to).

I've liked the very first crest you unlock quite a bit basically only because the pogo is vertical and not angled. Plus the additional silk you produce when hitting enemies is so good for boss fights.
It's horrible. Anywhere you look, whatever country it is, the government fucks people over for their benefit or the benefit of their preferred benefactors (ie. millionaires and billionaires). Sad times we live in.

Same. The first crest makes pogoing a lot easier for me, but they crests are all very customizable once you start collecting memory lockets. But every time I get a new one I feel like I need to test it out just to see if it's better or anything and admittedly I think the third one you get makes your strike slower but also allows you to do more damage per hit and that was useful for me in greymore while exploring.
Silksong is so great! I'm around 140 hours and still haven't finished it. Trying to take my time too and explore carefully, it's so rewarding in this game. And they added some mechanics to make backtracking more engaging comparing to the first game
Yeah! Compared to the first game it's so much bigger. I feel like there's so much to do and that's just in the first act. I'm not as far in as you but I'm trying to take my time. Backtracking everywhere to see what I missed. It's also a stunning game and the mechanics feel really good. It's frustrating at times because I feel like this game deserves a better player than me but man, I'm having fun. I'm so glad this game was worth the wait.
If you exploring and having fun then you're the target audience! Just don't spoil anything accidentally, there are so many twists and surprises ahead
Dying over and over to Midra on my RL1 run. That intro cutscene makes me uncomfortable, the way he pulls his spine…ughhhh….
I usually like watching mid-battle cutscenes again and again like the Elden Beast or Ludwig, but Midra's…. Nope I'm watching that only once per playthrough.
I just beat him last weekend on a regular run. I think I can see how most of that fight would be manageable at RL1, but how on earth are you dealing with the attack that's like the flame of frenzy incantation? I was able to consistently avoid, like... 90% of the damage from it, but that's way less of a concern for me than it would be at RL1
For the "Flame of Frenzy Incantation," which he casts from his head at the start of the fight, run towards him and strafe counterclockwise. This creates a large enough opening for a charge attack.
I am wearing the Ritual Shield Talisman and the Tree Sentinel Armor, which prevents me (mostly) from being killed in one shot. I use the Winged Tear to get Light Roll. However, I can still be one-shotted by the big explosion, impalement, or the buffed version of Frenzied Burst in phase two. The Frenzied Burst variant is especially troublesome since, with the visual noise of phase two, it looks like Flame of Frenzy before casting.
My best attempt yet got him down to about 8% health.
Ahh, that sounds like close to what I was doing, I must have just been starting the strafe too late or something. Sounds like you're damn nearly there though, good luck getting the last few percent!
It's Promised Consort Radahn time for me! Every other boss save Radagon and Malenia has been handled. I'm looking forward to getting absolutely fucking annihilated
