Discovering the hidden tunnel under the well in Brightstone Cove Tseldora only to get eaten by a mimic is one of those moments you can feel fromsofts devs laughing their asses off when designing the level
I wish they made a final chest after Elden beast that was a mimic
And it definitely needed to have the chain pointing to you so it’d be your fault
The best solution is to give the chest a quick stab to be sure
DS2's destructible chests have entered the chat.
Those chests will guaranteed survive at least two hits from any weapon in the game, just have any sort of tactical restraint and you'll never encounter this problem. If you hit it once and a health bar appears, keep swinging, if not then don't. Simple easy
Also, DS2 mimics have visible teeth, as well as a completely different chest model with extra locks on the front of it.
just have any sort of tactical restraint
Well I guess I'm screwed.
restraint
….
No. I don’t think I will.
Noita has chest mimics. They're often reasonably easy to spot and there's no reason not to just attack a chest before you touch it
What you don't tend to find out until much later is that it also has health pickup mimics in a game where healing is very tough to come by outside of those pickups
And also sometimes you get health pickup mimics from inside non-mimic chests
That last bit is pure bastardry
Dark souls mimics have the chain pointing the opposite direction. You can always tell if you take the time. Or attack every chest.
Soulslike - Discussion, News, Memes
This is a community for discussion, news, and memes pertaining to the video game sub-genre "soulslike".
Given Lemmy's size, the definition of soulslike may be treated relatively loosely. While games like the numerous FromSoft titles, the recent Star Wars Jedi games, Lies of P, Nioh and similar games should be the focus, games that incorporate soulslike elements - like Hollow Knight and Blasphemous, for example - may also be discussed here.
Basic Lemmy-quette applies. Additionally, since flairs don't exist yet, please do make sure to include a marker to denote what game your post is about in square brackets for clarity's sake. An example could be:
[BB] This enemy is so difficult!
or
[DS1] Anyone struggling with the gargoyles?
